Our Personalised Care at Scale hub is designed to help NHS organisations embed personalised care training across their organisation.

By embedding personalised care, which our recent report, A New Dawn for the NHS, found is not fully embedded across the NHS, health and care teams can ensure their services are tailored to individuals needs, which will lead to better outcomes and reduced costs.

At the heart of the hub is an expert webinar series, available on demand, which shows how two leading NHS organisations – the GP Excellence Programme in Greater Manchester and Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board – used personalised care training to tackle regional priorities, improve health outcomes, and strengthen workforce development.

We’d like to mark World Pharmacists Day – which is dedicated to recognising the vital role that pharmacists play in improving health – by thanking our brilliant pharmacist PCI Ambassadors, along with our Stakeholder Advisory Group member, The Royal Pharmaceutical Society, for their support. 👏

Together, we’ve helped champion the importance of personalised care education for both pharmacists and the wider health and care workforce.

Millions of people live with multiple conditions and yet the nature of general practice can mean that, often, these conditions are reviewed separately. This can result in less holistic care and may cause people to feel they have little opportunity to discuss the broader healthcare problems that matter most to them.

In an upcoming webinar, Chris Salisbury, Emeritus Professor of Primary Care and Rachel Johnson, Associate Professor in Primary Care, both at the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol, will demonstrate how practices can instead conduct integrated, personalised reviews of all the patient's conditions together, what tools exist to do so, and how this approach improves outcomes for patients and staff.

Date: Friday 3 October. 📅

Time: 12:00 to 13:00.⏰

Digital health solutions can only work if they are grounded in the lived experience of those who use them. 🧑🏻‍🤝‍🧑🏾

At our ‘Shaping the Future’ conference - the flagship event of Personalised Care Week 2025 - Rob Moriarty and Dr Peter Glick will discuss the importance of involving individuals and their families in the development of technology to ensure it is trustworthy, relevant and effective.

Both speakers have extensive experience in designing and advising on person-centred digital health solutions:

1️⃣ Rob Moriarty has over two decades of lived experience with a spinal cord injury, managing his 24-hour care through a range of personalisation schemes. As a member of the NHS Strategic Co-production Group and Lived Experience team, Rob has co-developed patient-led initiatives that promote transparency and inclusivity in healthcare policy and research.

2️⃣ Dr Peter Glick is a Participatory Healthcare Researcher for Northern Health Futures, Newcastle University. His work focuses on personal health budgets, where he brings together research, design, and hands-on-digital tools to help people shape their own support.

Meet Dr Jessica Morley, Assistant Director of the Digital Ethics Centre at Yale University and Associate Editor of BMJ Digital Health. 👋

Dr Morley will lead a session on using AI to build person-centred systems at our flagship annual conference - ‘Shaping the Future: The Role of Digital Health for Personalised Care’.

In her session, ‘From Optimisation to Flourishing: Reframing AI for Personalised, Person-Centred Care’, Dr Morley will introduce an alternative approach to AI in healthcare: one that moves away from narrow individual optimisation and toward enabling people, systems, and communities to flourish.

Drawing on the latest research in public health, ethics, and system design, Dr Morley argues that reframing AI as a ‘systems companion’ can improve decision-making, reduce over-medicalisation, and deliver care that is more meaningful to patients, while addressing real world complexities.

Dr Morley is one of many expert speakers lined up to discuss the opportunities and the challenges of using technology to deliver personalised care as part of Personalised Care Week 2025 - taking place Monday 22 September to Thursday 25 September. 📅

If new technology is to succeed in transforming care for the better, it must be responsibly implemented and trusted.

In ‘AI, tech, and data in health care: what do the public and NHS staff think?’ Ahmed Binesmael, Senior Improvement Analyst at The Health Foundation, will share research on public and health and care professional attitudes towards technology like AI.

He will also discuss what organisations people trust with their data, and what kind of activities they are willing to engage in to support the development of technologies in health and care.

By applying insights from this research, we can support the responsible and safe implementation of technologies in health and care, ensuring that the public are at the centre of the decision-making process - improving confidence, trust and ultimately, health outcomes.

Date: Tuesday 23 September. 📅

Attendees will be invited to share feedback to help shape the platform’s evolution, and explore how digital solutions can be integrated into everyday practice to reduce admin burdens, improve efficiency and better align care with what matters to each individual.
