World Optometry Day, March 23, highlights not only optometry as a health care profession, but the contribution of the profession in supporting access to eye health care as a human right. This year, the World Council of Optometry (WCO) will celebrate World Optometry Week from March 19–25, and specifically World Optometry Day, Thursday, March 23, with the theme “Expanding Optometry’s Role… The Time is Now!”

Additionally, to celebrate World Optometry Day on March 23, WCO encourages optometrists to download and share our “Committed to Eye Care” graphic, reaffirming the individual commitment of optometrists across the globe to advance accessible eye care.

Primary Eyecare Services is proud to be participating in Race Equality Week, which takes place next week between 6 and 12 February 2023.

Race Equality Week will unite thousands of organisations in action to address race inequality in the workplace.

A UK-wide initiative, Race Equality Week was launched by community interest company Race Equality Matters to turn words into meaningful action; a movement spurred on by the events of 2020, which have heightened the country’s collective consciousness of the racism, inequality, and injustice experienced by ethnically diverse communities.

Over 3,500 organisations were engaged in Race Equality Week last year.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Seddon, the wife of the late John Seddon.
Those of you who knew her from her practices, Seddons Opticians in Atherton, Leigh or Tyldesley, knew how much of a caring warm lady she was whether it was on a personal level or as one of her patients when she worked as an optometrist.
Elaine was an integral part of the community and herself and her husband were influencial in our Local Optometric Committee.
Elaine will be dearly missed by her family, friends, work colleagues and her patients.

Thank you for everything Elaine.
