However, it can actually be a symptom of gynaecological cancers, which are a type of cancer that starts in female reproductive organs.

More than 20,000 women are affected by these cancers each year in the UK, which are:

👉 cervical cancer
👉 endometrial (womb) cancer
👉 vulval cancer
👉 vaginal cancer

September marks Gynaecological Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness of the different gynaecological cancers.

To mark the month, consultant gynaecologic oncologist Anupama Rajan Babu is sharing the often-missed signs of these cancers and top tips for spotting them early.

It’s 7am on a Saturday morning and we’re in for a pre-embryo transfer appointment.

Whilst many women choose to come the night before, others wish for treatment as close as possible to their transfer. I always try my best to accommodate women at this sensitive time. Timing is key, with research suggesting treatments performed more than a day before or after may not be beneficial.

A 2018 systematic review and meta-analysis found acupuncture to have a significant treatment effect in improving the birth rates of sub-fertile women undergoing IVF or ICSI.

Studies suggest acupuncture may:
🔹Support stress & cortisol. 🔹Improve uterine blood flow.
🔹Support endometrial receptivity.
🔹Help regulate uterine contractions.

Ultimatly studies show that acupuncture during fertility treatment leads to

⭐️Increased clinical pregnancy rates
⭐️Higher implantation rates
⭐️Improved live birth rates in some IVF cycles.

❓Ever wondered why I don’t share pictures of positive pregnancy tests?

As someone who’s been lucky enough to support many couples on their fertility journeys over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging it can be to see & hear positive results from others.
Whilst I’m grateful that couples do share their positive news with me, I choose not to post those joyful moments to use as a marketing opportunity; I know how painful it can be for those still struggling to conceive, and I believe that sharing such news can unintentionally add to their heartache.

I completely understand why others might post these milestones, but for me, it’s about empathy and understanding the journey. 💕
