Christmas can be a wonderful time of year , but it can also be very hard for a lot of us.
Those grieving , those feeling lonely , those battling with their mind and trying to put on a brace face , those battling with disorders , those who don’t feel safe in their own home and those who’s money struggles are amplified by the holidays .

Let’s talk about money and let’s talk about mental health and yes they are connected .
I wanted to record this on video but my mic on my phone isn’t working great .

Over the next 4 days I will be sharing the impact that both money has on our mental health and mental health on our money .

Poor mental health can make earning and managing money much harder for many people .
And Worrying about money can make mental health much worse .

One thing to consider is understanding your money and mood patterns.
Here are two things you might like to try .

Working out our thought and spending pattern around money is a good place to start .

1 Think about when you spend money and when you save money and why ?

2 -Think about what aspects of dealing with money make your mental health much worse .
It might be opening envelopes , avoiding phone calls or confrontation. Or it could be something else.

It’s important to acknowledge that help is available .

Covid-19 and Mental Health

In the 3 months following testing positive for , 1 in 5 survivors were recorded as having a first time diagnosis of , or insomnia. This was about twice as likely as for other groups of patients in the same period.

The study also found that people with a pre-existing mental illness were 65% more likely to be diagnosed with COVID-19 than those without.

“This is likely due to a combination of the psychological stressors associated with this particular pandemic and the physical effects of the illness,” said Michael Bloomfield, a consultant psychiatrist at University College London.

Many COVID-19 survivors are likely to be at greater risk of developing mental illness, psychiatrists said on Monday, after a large study found 20% of those infected with the coronavirus are diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder within 90 days.
