And can be used year after year, spare snap supplied. A bit of weight lifting which is really important for us. If you want to try this for yourself but don't have any weights, then use some small water bottles (full).

There are 5 rounds, each lasting a minute.

You have 40 seconds to complete 15 squats and 15 shoulder presses (see video).

Stop at 40 seconds, whether you have completed those 15 moves or not, so you then have a 20 second rest (needed).

This is now the third time I have done this workout over the last few weeks. I can now see that I have more energy and I'm able to move a bit faster. It's progress. Still not where I was physically, since getting COVID, and still getting puffed much too easily, but I'll keep pressing play and improving my health and wellbeing. 😁

I'm very proud of myself today. I actually managed 15 press-ups on my toes. That is, 3 rounds of 15, so a total of 45!

I used a Beachbody band around my arms that gave me support. I'll video myself another time to show you what I mean.

I have never, ever, been able to do them on my toes before and always did them on my knees. So this is massive for me.

Now, I expect you're asking, how long did it take me to be able to do this? Was it 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months?

In fact, it's taken me about 4 years, yes you heard that right. Slowly, but surely, I am getting stronger and fitter. My balance is improving, along with my stability, mobility + flexibility.

I am determined to continue and show you ladies + gents that it can be done. I am 2 years from 60 and I am not going to let my age determine me.

It's from BODi (Beachbody on Demand interactive) beta testing.
BODi launches in full on 21 September 21 and is in addition to BOD. It's basically live classes that you can stream and if you want to, you can request to be part of the BOD cast and see yourself on screen. The trainer can see you too and as well as taking the class, can give you personal tips and instruction regarding your form etc.

I'm personally looking forward to the spinning classes online, but there will be a range of classes suitable for all.

How do you find the energy to workout?

It’s something we’ve all struggled with when we try and get healthier and work out more.

Even when you’re determined to make it to the gym, or complete a home workout, whether that’s weekly or every day, it can be a struggle to find the motivation to stand up, get your kit on and do your exercise routine.

Especially at the end of a long work day or when you’ve got kids.

This is probably one of the hardest things about getting started because the energy comes after you begin working out.

“Until then, you have to trust the process and push through even if you don’t feel like it. If I waited until the days I ‘felt like it’ then I wouldn’t be working out all too often.

“It’s a conscious choice for me because I know how much more energy I’ll have after, how much better I’ll feel, and how much stronger I’ll get.

Health and fitness

For the average person trying to get in shape, the most important thing isn’t necessarily how much exercise you do, but the quality of that exercise.

For example, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) shows promise for improving fitness and health. This involves performing exercises at maximum effort for a short period of time, followed by a period of rest.

If you complete 4-7 bouts of intense, one-minute exercises with 75 seconds of rest between at least 3 times a week, you will find you have improved fitness and mental wellbeing

So for people who don’t regularly exercise, less than 30 minutes per week could be beneficial.

Whether you should exercise more or less often depends on many things – including how often you’re able, your current physical health, your training goals and the intensity of the exercise you’re doing.

It's recommended that you vary the kind of training you do within a week, and allow enough recovery between intense or resistance training days – including at least one recovery day a week.

But overall, the most effective training programme is the one that you maintain consistently over a long period of time.
