Leaving the house with your baby....

It can be very stressful. I remember putting off going to baby classes because I was so anxious about getting myself out of the house.

I was worried about naps, bottles, crying, stress, nappies, poo explosions..everything.

The thought of socialising with people I didn't know or that awkward feeling when you go into a room or setting with strangers. Who talks first? Do they like me? Am I being awkward? So many worries and so much anxiety.

I know all those feelings, I've experienced them, I've lived them. In my classes I try to help relieve those feelings as much as I can. Classes are fully baby led, you do whatever you and your baby need. Whatever is right for you and baby in that moment. I like to check in with everyone and see how you are and take the opportunity to have a good old chinwag. Sometimes a chat with others at the same stage as you is the best thing to help you manage a feeling or an anxiety. It helps you normalise what you are feeling and realise that others are experiencing exactly the same thing.

Classes are more than doing the massage, yoga or whatever. They are an opportunity to check in with your own mental health. Time to socialise with others experiencing exactly the same thing.

What do people say about our baby classes....

One of the most wonderful things about our Daisy baby classes is that it is as much a class for mum as it is for baby!

What is wrigglers?

It's a fun filled class that has time for mums to chat, songs and rhymes, some baby yoga movements and what's in the box? A story section with sensory props that always captures the little ones attention. Lyla LOVED this part of class.

Classes are for babies from 4/5months to 1 year. It really all depends on your baby, you and their development.

Breastfeeding...

With it being world breastfeeding week I debated if I should post or not. I'm not the most confident when it comes to this area. But here is my journey...

With Lyla I was adamant that I was bottle feeding her, I didn't want the added stress of breastfeeding that I had seen friends struggle with. So I confidently made the choice to bottle feed. I knew what she was getting, I could plan and be in control. It was key for my own mental health at the time.

With Emily I was inspired by my fellow daisy mums to try breastfeeding. They were amazing at it and it gave me confidence to try. With gestation diabetes I hand expressed colostrum from 38 weeks to have incase baby needed a sugar boost post delivery.

Emily latched straight away after birth but when I got home I found it very tricky to get her to latch on my own and somewhere around day three I made the choice to switch to combi feeding. By day 5 I was so stressed about breastfeeding that the bottle became easier to manage.

I combi fed Emily for a month and then decided to switch to formula full time. At the time it was the best choice for us. I loved all the snuggles I had while feeding and was really proud of my journey.

Breastfeeding is really hard but with good support it can be amazing. Combi feeding allows you some relief when you can't exclusively breasfeed. And formula allows you to feed your baby when you can't manage the others. Never feel guilty about your choices. Whatever you decide to do when feeding your baby is the right choice for you. You've got this mama!! 💜

I thought I would do a little hello post as i've had lots of new followers recently.

I am Heather mummy to Lyla 6 and Emily 15 months. I am an Early Years teacher with over 10 years experience. I enjoy crafting, planning and seasonal decor.

When I had Lyla I attended daisy birthing and baby classes which were amazing but with Emily the teacher no longer taught in this area. I really missed going to them as a new mum. So I decided to train to be a Daisy teacher, I was looking for a way to be able to stay at home more with the girls.

So here we are a year later with my training nearly finished and baby classes on the horizon in September.

I'm excited to start teaching them, meeting you all and becoming part of your motherhood journey.
