This is a hill I will die on…amongst a few. Therapy doesn’t have to last for years, it doesn’t have to feel traumatic and you don’t necessarily need to bare your soul to get results.

What you do need is a safe, compassionate and boundaried space in which to heal and explore the kind of life you actually want to live.

Free from whatever has you caught in a choke hold.

That’s where a solution focused approach comes in.

🩷 Through forward focused questions that challenge your current reality.

💛 Through psycho-education that helps you understand why you haven’t been able to fix it by yourself and how you can now

🧡 Through wellbeing tools that support you between sessions

💚 Through gentle, restorative trance that consolidates every session.

Solution focused hypnotherapy allows you to respect your past and move forward in a way that works better for you.

It’s evidence based and very successful for a wide variety of issues. Even better: most people find that just a few sessions are all it takes to achieve their goals.

If this sounds like something you’d like to explore reach out via DM or my website.

I invite you to start a conversation about a more comfortable future.

Why Neurodivergent Women Burn Out Differently 😲
Neurodivergent women carry both visible and invisible loads. The visible responsibilities such as work
and family.
Invisible effort such as self-monitoring, masking, and managing executive function.
Clinical psychology links sustained, long term self-regulation with cognitive fatigue and stress.
Neurodivergent brains, especially in women, can be more at risk of faster, more intense and more persistent burnout.
When you realise it’s not your fault; your brain is in fact protecting you the only way it knows how (by forcing you to stop) this opens the door to vastly different coping strategies.
But solution focused hypnotherapy is more than just coping, it’s about thriving and harnessing the innate power of your brain’s particular way of working, to make life enjoyable and doable.
I know you’re managing more than most people realise and support is available.

Autistic women often ascribe their burnout to prolonged masking and sensory strain.
Which makes perfect sense because masking requires constant monitoring of behaviour, tone, and response.
Trying to decipher meaning behind metaphor and ambiguous language all take extra focus.
The fear of getting it wrong and the frustration when you find yourself apologising yet again for misreading the situation.
Add to that sensory processing overload and you’re fast-tracking your way to
burnout.
Research recognises autistic burnout as involving deep exhaustion, reduced tolerance, and loss of capacity.
It often means you suffer more deeply and for longer.
This is the cumulative cost of continuous adjustment and accommodation for the neurotypical world.
But recover doesn’t come by rest alone, you need to find ways to protect your energy.
If you recognise this experience, support is available.
Sessions of solution focused hypnotherapy can help you find a better way to cope with the world in a way that feels sustainable and enjoyable.

ADHD has historically been missed in girls, resulting in a wave of late diagnosed women, that often shows up in midlife.
Women with ADHD, whether diagnosed or not, commonly compensate by over preparing, over working, over thinking and micro-managing every detail.
While this can appear highly functional,
and convenient for everyone else, it increases cognitive load and fatigue on all levels.
Executive functioning differences already require extra effort. Sustained responsibility and multiple roles increase risk of burnout for women with ADHD, especially given the extra cognitive load
and hormonal impacts women often carry anyway.
If you wanted a sweet spot for burnout midlife ADHD women is it!
Burnout in this context is not about being less able to function. It highlights the vulnerabilities of ADHD brains as women reach midlife, and the effects of long-term self-management without sufficient recovery strategies or time.
The solution is more than rest, it’s nervous system recovery and finding better ways to cope with the demands you face every day.
If this pattern feels familiar, support is available.Book now.

Buckle up - I’m about to call you out (with love and your future in mind)

Internal pressure develops quietly and stealthily. It sneaks up on you in the form of external expectations that are absorbed over time until you don’t recognise them as anything but your own
too-high-for- normal-human-beings standards.

You have this whole raft of rules about how much you should manage, tolerate and produce.

If you look closely, you’ll start to notice how much of it doesn’t fit with your true desires, drivers and goals.

Research links chronic self-imposed pressure and perfectionism with high stress and compromised wellbeing.

Your burn out cycles aren’t happening because you’re defective, it’s quite the opposite in fact. That’s the predictable outcome for bodies and brains that overdo it for too long.

This is especially true when you only credit yourself for the perfect wins and lack perspective and compassion when you don’t meet your own expectations.

If you’re realising you’re the one driving you into the dust, let me help you stop and recalibrate your priorities.

Feeling like you need to earn your rest?

Rest is often treated as a reward rather than a requirement. When rest is framed as conditional, you delay it even when signs
of overload are present.

Recovery then happens only after exhaustion or collapse. This pattern increases the risk of burnout.

Rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement.

If you feel guilty about taking time out, it’s a sign your internal expectations could use an adjustment.

Higher Standards Placed on Women

Many women operate under consistently high standards that are rarely named.

Research and our lived experience shows us that women are often expected to be not only competent, but reliable, emotionally skilled, and constantly available.

These expectations increase cognitive and
emotional load.

Sustaining high standards without adequate recovery places you, your brain and your body under strain.

Keep that up for long enough and burnout is the natural consequence. Recovery from burnout means redrawing the lines, changing what you’re prepared to do and be.

That can take time and support, which is where solution focused hypnotherapy and I come in.

If you’re ready to push back on the expectations placed on you, let’s start an easy conversation. dm REWIRE to get started.

If you feel like you should be happy… but you’re not…there could be a very real physiological reason.

Anhedonia is a well-documented neurological response where the brain reduces sensitivity to reward and it’s often linked to burnout, chronic stress and depression.

Prolonged stress (of any kind - life, work, illness, finances, health) can impact dopamine pathways, making pleasure harder to access.

Which means the usual advice to “do more of what you enjoy” can fall utterly flat. It’s like everyone else sees the world in colour but you only have shades of grey.

Your brain is not in a state to receive pleasure, satisfaction or joy signals. You’re existing rather than living.

It can be especially common in burnout, where survival mode takes precedence over everything else.

This is where recovery matters. Regulation first. Then enjoyment returns. Once your body and brain feel safe, your full range of emotions and experiences are safe to return.

If this resonates, follow for more content. If you’re ready to experience more joy and happiness, comment the word REWIRE and let’s start a conversation about living life in full colour.

On International day of happiness let’s talk about what happiness is not…

Telling yourself to “just be positive” when you’re struggling doesn’t create happiness. Hearing it from other people…the worst 😒

It creates internal conflict.

Your brain has systems designed to detect threat and process emotion, so if you end up having to dismiss or suppress those emotions your brain doesn’t resolve them.
You’ll hold onto them.

This is emotional bypassing and it can leave you feeling stuck.

Research in neuroscience and psychology shows acknowledging emotion reduces activation in stress-related brain regions and supports regulation.

Happiness (real, solid, sustainable happiness) is nothing to do with eliminating negative emotion. It’s about learning how to safely and confidently navigate them so they do what they serve their purpose.

These are very different skills, and just like happiness, you can build those skills.

Follow along for more realistic, science-based mental health content.
