I’ve become better at recognising when I am getting stuck in a rut as I’ve got older. But it’s still not easy.
Sometimes a still need a nudge, and while having an offload to a friend the other day, she simply said ‘…Do you think YOU need some coaching?’

She was right, and it’s something I do need to engage better with. I then had a 1hour conversation with a friend the following night, discussing his options for moving forward with various elements of what he has going on.

I had a moment where I felt like a bit of a fraud, sat offering advice whilst I have my other stuff going on in the background.

But in all honesty, that has been my career. Thankfully I’ve been able the compartmentalise some of the things I am juggling in the background, and help others move forwards with their own things, offering space for them to discuss, reflect and come up with some potential solutions.

For most of us, our instincts are to part our own needs, and focus on others. Particularly when we are reaching burn out, often the last bits of energy are reserved for ensuring other people are cared for and sorted.

So if this resonates, and you recognise that you too may be slipping in to this pattern of burn out, get in touch, and let’s chat about some coaching.

A bit about me….

I am, and have been a Physio for over 15 years now. I’ve worked across a number of sectors in my clinical career, from the NHS, elite sport, university sport, military, and private practice.

I’ve worked with a huge spectrum of patients, from a wide variety of backgrounds. Supporting theme with all the psychosocial implications that come with either musculoskeletal conditions, or generally long term health conditions.

What I think people don’t quite appreciate in their understanding of that it is to be a physiotherapist, is the significant role of coaching. Coaching Patients to understand their condition, the impact of their condition, and how best to manage this in their day to day lives.

In my current role, I support patients with complex long term health conditions t balance life commitments, work, exercise and social lives, through values based coaching.

This approach extends beyond patients with long term health conditions, and is an effective approach for anyone seeking to find better balance, self-compassion and direction.

So if you’re interested in having a chat, and seeing how coaching might benefit you to navigate periods of juggling life’s challenges with performance and wellbeing, feel free to get in touch.

I now offer 1:1 Personal coaching services. Please do get in touch if you feel you might benefit from some support.
