The MHCN are helping Northamptonshire Mind at the Windrush Celebration Event at Hall Park, this Saturday 22 June 2024.
The HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury Docks on 21 June 1948. This defining moment, now celebrated as Windrush Day, marks its 76th anniversary on 22 June 2024.
It's time to celebrate their vast contributions to our culture and reflect on the enduring legacy of Windrush. Local community groups have got together to organise this fantastic variety of events celebrating the history, achievements, and contributions of the Windrush generation.

10:00 AM - Opening Ceremony
10:45 AM - Mayor’s Speech and Flag Raising
11:15 AM - Cultural Performances and Music
- Music Performance: Local Caribbean band performs traditional and contemporary music.
- Dance Performances: Cultural dance groups showcasing dances from the Caribbean.
- Poetry Readings: Local poets read pieces inspired by the Windrush experience.
12:00 Noon - Panel Discussion: "Legacy and Impact"
1:00 PM - Lunch and Socializing
- Cultural Food Stalls: Variety of Caribbean cuisine available.
- Exhibits and Displays: Booths showcasing art, history, and achievements of the Windrush Generation.
