Alice Connolly Dietitian An experienced specialist Dietitian focused on weight management, PCOS and fertility

I'll use my knowledge and skills gained over 12 years in NHS clinical practice to help you meet your health & wellbeing goals. Women's Health
Struggling with symptoms of PCOS, PMS or PMDD, thyroid problems? I'll look at how food choices and other lifestyle factors could ease your symptoms. I won't simply put you on a diet - I'll use a tailored approach to support you to enjoy quality foods; not just eat less. Fertility & Pregnancy
If you're trying to conceive or going through fertility treatment, rethinking your diet and maintaining a healthy weight could improve your chances of success. And if you're already expecting, carefully considered nutrition is good for both you and your baby. Obesity
I believe in the Health at Every Size approach, and I team these values with clinical evidence to give guidance that truly works for you. So, as well as working towards body composition goals a and non-scale objectives, I can help you tackle problems with health, daily function and mood.

😖’I READ SO MUCH ON SOCIAL MEDIA - I JUST FEEL SO OVERWHELMED’ this is something I hear from my clients really often. This PCOS awareness month you will see an explosion of PCOS related content on social media; here are my thoughts on engaging with it wisely:

1️⃣ Where are you on your PCOS journey? Just getting started, finding a way, confident self-manger or lost your way? Understanding this will help you decide what kind of content you might be seeking e.g connecting with others who live with PCOS (normalising, validating, supporting), finding trusted sources of information in professional accounts (reassurance and building knowledge), following people who are further along in their pcos journey (gaining ideas, skills and solving problems)

2️⃣ What are your current PCOS priorities?
PCOS symptoms are a bit different for every-body; perhaps you are focusing on skin, hair, menstrual regularity, mood or weight? Getting clear on what’s a priority for you right now will help keep you focussed during the scrolling!

3️⃣ What makes this important to you right now? It’s not an easy condition to manage every day and so connecting with your internal drivers really supports motivation. It could be self-care, feeling able to socialise, family planning or something else?

4️⃣ What kind of insta accounts would be more or less helpful to you to engage with?
Notice how you feel - are some accounts sending you down a rabbit hole of worry, comparisons or rigid rules? Or do some feel inspiring; supportive and compassionate?

5️⃣ How can you take care of yourself on social media?
Social media is designed to hook you in and keep you there; have a think about what could support you - it could be time limits, screens off after a certain time, planning other activities to do in your day or enlisting support from others.

⭐️ Happy PCOS awareness month 2023 - I hope you find it an empowering time

🙌I achieved remission in my PCOS symptoms with 18 months of self-management and it had nothing to do with cutting out food groups or losing weight 👏

My outcomes:

1️⃣ Clearer skin
2️⃣ No more extreme hunger
3️⃣ No more sugar cravings
4️⃣ Monthly ovulation and periods
5️⃣ No polycystic appearance of ovaries on last scan

⭐️ I wanted to share this achievement to give hope to anyone out there that needs to it today

❤️ All of my lifestyle changes came from a place of positivity and compassion; they feel right for me at this time. I know my PCOS is not ‘cured’ I will keep self-managing and anticipate my symptoms might return in future as by body changes

🙋‍♀️ Please remember every persons’ PCOS symptoms differ and everyone’s responses to lifestyle approaches differ - it took me time, trial and error to find what was right for me

‼️It’s important to note that whilst some of these strategies do have an evidence base in managing PCOS symptoms; some of them do not. This infographic should not replace any personal information or advice given to you by your HCP.
