At NHS Talking Therapies, we want to find the best treatment and support for you. As well as seeking support from our therapists, self-care can be a helpful addition.

Self-care techniques and general lifestyle changes can help manage the symptoms of many mental health problems. They may also help prevent some problems from developing or getting worse. Here are some different ways that might help you to work on self-care.

It’s Migraine Awareness Week

1 in 7 people live with migraine.

Migraine has been dismissed for too long as ‘just a headache’, despite it being a complex and debilitating neurological disorder. We know that for those living with migraine it has a significant impact on their quality of life, impacting their mental health, relationships, education and their ability to work.

The Migraine Trust believe people with migraine deserve better and no one with migraine should have to cope alone. aims to raise awareness of what it means to live with migraine in the UK.

The 15th to 21st September 2025 is Sexual Health Awareness Week

The focus of this year is ‘playing it safe’. Being safe means feeling inspired to access contraception, testing and treatment. It means understanding consent, healthy relationships and pleasure.

Here at NHS Talking Therapies, we can offer non-judgemental and inclusive support - whether you are having difficulties around sexual health impacting your mental health, or around the impacts of inequality on your wellbeing - we are here to help you!

Substance abuse and mental health services administration (or SAMHSA) aim to increase public awareness around mental health and addiction recovery.
