🩹 First Aid Tip of the Day: How to Help Someone Who’s Choking 🧑‍🦯

If someone is choking and can’t breathe, knowing the right steps can save their life! Here's what to do:

Ask: “Are you choking?” If they can’t speak or cough, it’s an emergency.

Encourage Coughing: If they can breathe and cough, let them try to clear the obstruction.

Assist with 5 Back Blows: Stand to the side and slightly behind the person. Support their chest with one hand. Use the heel of your other hand to give 5 firm back blows between their shoulder blades.

Perform 5 Abdominal Thrusts: Stand behind the person. Make a fist with one hand, place it just above their navel. Grasp your fist with your other hand and give quick inward and upward thrusts.

Repeat: Alternate between 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts until the object is dislodged or help arrives.

Remember: Stay calm, act quickly, and call emergency services if needed. Your swift action can save a life!

🚑 Quick Tip: If someone is bleeding, apply firm, direct pressure with a clean cloth or bandage to help stop the bleeding. Keep the person calm and elevate the injured area if possible. Remember, staying calm can make all the difference!
