Alex had enjoyed travel before, but a fear of flying began four years ago and stole his enjoyment of trips. With a family holiday imminent — his first flight with his toddler — he felt panic at the thought of freezing mid-flight and risking upsetting his child in the process.
He was desperate but worried therapy wouldn’t help and felt uneasy about hypnotherapy, so I used EMDR to target and reprocess the earlier, distressing flying memories that fuelled his anxiety. I worked with him over five sessions, at his pace.

On his return he wrote: “I had a most wonderful time,” and described how calm he felt onboard — able to breathe and stay present rather than caught in panic. A month later he flew again and messaged that all had gone well.

In EMDR we gently target the memory or feeling while using safe bilateral stimulation so your brain can reprocess it.
In hypnotherapy I guide you into a relaxed, focused state where you can install calmer responses. You’re fully in control, we go at your pace, and you can stop at any time.

If your chest tightens as you approach a dual carriageway or motorway, you’re not alone — your brain is doing its job too well. I use hypnotherapy for driving anxiety and EMDR for driving phobia to help your nervous system learn a calmer response.

Try this now: feet flat, press into the pedals lightly, breathe in for 4, out for 6 — repeat 6 times and notice your shoulders drop.
