We are currently planning our media story for the Choose Psychiatry Scotland campaign this year and are actively seeking a lived experience partner to help tell the story of how the pandemic has affected people’s mental health, both now and in years to come, and why we need more psychiatrists.

The lived experience partner can be from anywhere in Scotland. They may be a patient, ex-patient, friend or family member of someone with mental ill health. They would need to be comfortable having their photo taken, their name in the newspapers and possibly being on TV news. This would require a short, pre-recorded interview.

The lived experience partner would be fully supported throughout the process as the Press Team at the College have a rigorous case studies process where we support individuals involved from the beginning, during the media interview, and afterwards.

Please get in touch with Laura (scotland@rcpsych.ac.uk) and she will be able to provide you with more information if you have someone in mind. She can also send on our lived experience information pack.

RCPsych is currently recruiting a Psych Soc to host the 2022 National Student Psychiatry Conference. The NSPC is held in January or February and hosted by a different psych soc each year. Hosting the NSPC provides an opportunity to develop the psych soc, network with other students and psychiatrists and to support students to learn more about psychiatry and psychiatric careers.

While the event is very much “owned” by the host psych soc, the College will support them with both funding and practical support in the form of advertising, advice and suggested speakers (if you want them).

If your Psych Soc is interested in hosting this event, please submit an application by completing NSPC 2022 hosting application form by 16 August 2021 at 12:00 noon: https://forms.gle/rjf1JM6TXD4YL6Jc9

If you have any questions about this, please contact careers@rcpsych.ac.uk

The College would like to support Psych Socs in running the National Student Psychiatry Conference. The following form allows you to express your interest in hosting the event. As agreed in discussion with Psych Socs, the final decision of host will be made by a panel of involved College Members and...
