This week, I am joining the national conversation about the impact of alcohol on our working lives. Whether it’s the after-work drinks culture, stress-related drinking, or simply not realising how much we’re consuming — alcohol can affect our health, wellbeing, and productivity more than we think.
🔍 Did you know?
Around 10 million people in the UK drink in ways that could harm their health.
It can lead to a range of health issues such as weight gain, stroke, heart disease, liver and kidney damage and there are six cancers associated with excessive alcohol intake. It can lead to poorer sleep quality and greatly increased anxiety and it’s worth noting that women don’t process it as well as men and after the hormonal changes of the menopause, even less so. It can make us lose clarity, confidence and our zest for life.
💡 How to get involved:
Reflect on your own drinking habits —drinking can slowly creep up over time. Having a nightly glass of wine after a long busy day could mean you are exceeding the government recommended limits of 14 units per week.
