Music and dementia 🎵

Listening to music and singing are activities that can be enjoyed at home right through to the later stages of dementia.

If the person with dementia finds it hard to communicate during the later stages of dementia you will often find that they can express their emotions through music. Music can also be used to help the person calm down if feeling frustrated.

The person you care for may enjoy a playlist of meaningful music. ‘Playlist for Life’ will help you put together a music programme. Some recent pictures celebrating birthdays, Autumn crafts, knitting, singing, harvesting tomatoes, lots of delicious birthday cake shared by everyone and repotting plants to bring inside for winter.
If anyone has any plant pots they no longer want we are always looking for the plastic pots and also ceramic pots so we can put the house plants into patients bedrooms. We have been busy growing lots of plants from cuttings and we always have spares if anyone would like a plant to take home.

We had a lot of fun today with our ‘Fun Run’ and our Raffle, the total raised so far is a WHOPPING £258.00 which is a really fantastic result and I would like to say an ENORMOUS THANK YOU to everyone who supports us and joins in to help us put a smile on our patients faces which is what it is all about!!!
The Crowdfunder page is open for another few days if anyone wants to donate and the Unicorn is available for ‘rides’ around Glan Rhos.
ALL the money raised will be spent on concerts and other activities saved in ‘ The Glan Rhos Residents Fund’
