The mental maps that we take from our childhood into our adulthood, can become wildly out of date depending on the environments and experiences that we have.

These ‘maps’ determine how we relate to ourselves, other people and the world around us. So if there are issues with these maps it’s can cause us a lot of distress and internal conflict - which can manifest as anxiety, depression, depersonalisation, intrusive thoughts, panic attacks and many other symptoms of internal dysregulation.

The good news is we can update and amend our subconscious process and mental maps as adults!

You can’t underestimate the impact that our childhood has on us and the echos of what we experience can last a lifetime.

Looking within and spending time on healing and connecting with all parts of ourself with compassion will always be worthwhile.

Our mindset determines how we experience EVERYTHING, it is our PERCEPTION of what we experience and the lasting impact on our internal process that can cause longer-term damage and deeper issues.

How resilient are we?

Are we able to process and move on from what weve experienced OR if not how can we learn to?

We assign the meaning - for an example we give sentimental but materially ‘worthless’ things huge meaning in our lives - the ticket stubb from the movie you went to on your first date….

The meaning that things have is highly individua. In the same way, we therefore experience our own individual responses to life, events and traumas - the meaning of experiences is not universal.

The empowering thing in all this is that we CAN transform our mindset, our internal process of how we PERCEIVE the world and OURSELVES.

It takes inner work and commitment but it will always be WORTHWHILE!

‘The Paradox of Change’

The paradox of change is a central concept of Gestalt Therapy. It is the understanding that real change occurs when a person is able to fully accept and be who they are in the present moment.

Rather than striving to force change if we can embrace and accept our current feelings and state then we reduce internal conflict and create space for organic growth and meaningful change to occur.

A helpful way to understand this is to think about the analogy of quicksand: the more you struggle to get out of quicksand the faster you sink and the more trouble you get in, if you stay calm accept you are stuck and then respond with careful, considered action you will find your way out.

Learning how to respond rather than react to ourselves and our experiences is key to achieving good mental health and wellbeing.

How often have you said ‘I AM anxious’ or really taken ownership of it by saying ‘MY Anxiety’ … if you are anything like I was then it’d be more than you’ve had hot dinners…. Right?

Here’s a really powerful way to shift the relationship you have with your stress response … stop thinking of it as a part of your personality. It’s not … it’s a physiological response to perceived threat and there is a lot we can do to help change the perceived threat level you are experiencing on a daily basis.

Try using the phrase ‘A Part of me is feeling anxious’ … it gives you room to respond and move out of that feeling.

Through teaching my clients HOW to connect to the deeper subconscious levels of their psyche and themselves we create the opportunity for real and sustained healing.

Learning how to nurture and relate to your SELF with kindness, compassion and consistency builds self-trust and then follows, self -confidence, self-esteem and self-belief.

We work to resolve past traumas, let go of and reconcile outdated coping mechanisms and beliefs and install new positive beliefs and coping mechanisms.

It’s a collaborative process, it’s often messy and sometimes hard but the outcome is so worth the effort and work that it takes.

Hello! I’ve been offline most of 2024 as I’ve been working hard behind the scenes on my UKCP accreditation … so I thought it was a good time to re-introduce myself 😁👋

I’m Caroline, I have over 5 years clinical experience helping people heal from chronic anxiety, depression, panic attacks, depersonalisation and many other mental health symptoms.

Integrating hypnotherapy and psychotherapy to achieve sustained, positive transformation with my clients in their mental and emotional wellbeing.

This is a space for anyone and everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, s*x, gender or s*xuality and I believe passionately in empowering people with the tools they need to heal and move forwards.

I am looking forward to connecting here with you all more regularly as we approach the end of 2025 and look ahead to 2026.

Investing in our health both mental and physical is the most worthwhile and productive investment you will ever make.

I often get asked: ‘Why is Hypnotherapy so effective?’

Hypnotherapy is really effective at creating positive change because it utilises the Trance state in a holistic and intentional way.

The Trance state is simply a focused state of attention and we move between different levels of our consciousness every day when we move from sleep to being awake, when we’re concentrating at work or driving.

It is a NATURAL process we all experience but we are usually UNAWARE it is happening.

With Hypnotherapy we guide your focus of attention INWARDS allowing ACCESS to those deeper levels of consciousness.

Learning HOW your internal system is functioning, connecting with the different PARTS of your persona and personality, creating a much stronger communication and building self-trust is key to experiencing positive change in your mental and emotional wellbeing.

If you’ve tried other talking therapies and found it somewhat useful to a point but you haven’t felt REAL change then Hypnotherapy will give you the opportunity to go beyond the surface and transform things at the deepest level resulting in sustained and lasting change.
