How do you feel about change? 🤔
Yesterday I spent some time in nature and my kids stopped to look at these.
It gave me a beautiful reminder of how the seasons are beginning to change, how often I forget to stop rushing around and notice the little glimmers everywhere 🍁
For many clients, the word change can bring about many of symptoms of anxiety.
It's not just worry.... it's so much more than that.
It's our nervous systems on alert. We might feel sudden panic or it might start with a slow burn into a churning, familar feeling in our stomach. Some light palpitations into heavier one's.
The feeling of something stuck in our throat. A flush of heat. An overwhelming feeling of dread.
And after.....A sense of shame.
Why can't we just be like other people?
Why do we find this thing so hard to do?
A full back catalogue of overthinking all the mistakes we've ever made in our lives, how silly of a human we are and then....
A freeze. Our bodies exhausted from it all. Hide away until it passes. Feeling low and really fragile.
Sound familar?
Change can feel scary, but it's because our brains and bodies are used to repeated patterns of behaviour. These patterns are keeping you safe but also restricted. You might also be feeling trapped in endless cycles.
There is nothing 'wrong' with you. You are surviving how you know. Please give yourself some grace. 🫶
I have also been there. I have to work daily at not going back there. Not repeating old patterns. Not letting myself get caught up in what if's. I'm not perfect. But it is possible.
Our thoughts are not facts 🧠
Change is something to embrace. It can have a significantly positive impact on our lives. If we can begin to slowly let it in.
If you want to make some changes in your life, understand a bit about how your brain works with Anxiety.....but with some support.
