Protein Rebel Pioneering natural sports nutrition for endurance exercise

30/10/2025

What makes our running nutrition different? The ingredients lists! While other companies may claim their products are “natural”, a quick look at the ingredients makes you question their definition of “natural” Vs Ours.

We source our ingredients from nature and choose only the highest quality so we don’t need to add other stuff like gums and artificial sweeteners to make it look and taste good.

Perhaps it’s time to ditch the scary ingredients lists and choose truly natural?

Champion Alert! John Steadman took first place at the Tavistock Sprint Triathlon in a gruelling 29 degrees of heat and won the IntoTri Cornish Triathlon Series overall. The Tavistock course consisted of an eight-length 400 metre swim, a single 18 kilometre bike lap over steep hills, and a five kilometre run to the finish.

John approached the event with precision. On race morning, he had breakfast two hours before the start: a small bowl of porridge with honey. He then added a scoop of Protein Rebel’s Run Easy collagen to his coffee and drank a hydration drink during the drive to the event.

Ten minutes before the race he took a Maple Ignite gel, providing 24 grams of carbohydrates. During the bike section he consumed 60 grams of carbohydrates, 250 millilitres of water and electrolytes, which he found invaluable on such a demanding course.

Recovery was taken just as seriously. After the race John had a high protein meal, followed by Protein Rebel’s Accelerate powder and a one litre salt mix. As he explains, he generally aims for a high protein meal after workouts but on particularly demanding training days he uses Accelerate to boost his intake.

Consistency, clean fuelling and smart strategy clearly paid off. Well done, John! Here’s to many more wins 🙌

Historic moment alert! Sarah Perry has just smashed the women’s world record for Backyard Ultras, going 95 laps (≈ 395.8 miles) at Big’s—outrunning the previous mark of 87 laps / ~362 miles held by Megan Eckert.

Her previous UK best was 59 laps (~245.8 miles), set during her UK team win at Rasselbock (when she also held the prior national women’s record).

Big congrats also to Luke for absolutely nailing the crew role fueling, caring, staying awake, keeping morale high 💪 To Sarah and Luke, your teamwork, grit and unwavering support have raised the bar for what’s possible.

If Sarah’s epic effort has fired you up, now’s a great time to jump into Backyard Ultra events in the UK. There are more popping up than ever and many of the Protein Rebel ambassadors are only too happy to share tips, pacing advice, race strategy, crew wisdom or just general encouragement. Go get after it! 🔥

Not every gel is the same and let’s face it, traditional maltodextrin gels don’t have the best reputation: Hair gel consistency, questionable taste and don’t sit well on the stomach.

With this in mind, you may think that taking a handful of sweets or chocolates during a run is better than forcing down a gel 🤢

But we say that you just haven’t found the right gel yet! Our 100% natural maple gels are:
- Tasty 😋
- Smooth
- Slightly thicker than water 💧
- Gentle on the stomach
- East to open and carry (no melted chocolate or gooey sweets)

You also know exactly how much carbs and electrolytes you’re taking without trying to do tricky mental arithmetic at mile 18 (10 M&Ms + a pack of haribo + 2 jelly babies = 🤯)

Have you tried our maple gels yet? 🍁

Last weekend saw an incredible performance from Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 24-Hour World Championships. The women’s team claimed gold with a combined distance of 768.641 km, finishing ahead of Australia and Japan. Sarah Webster set a new women’s 24-hour world record, covering 278.622 km, while teammate Kelsey Price finished fourth with 257.129 km and Sophie Power ran 232.889 km.

Sarah Webster’s performance breaks down to an average pace of 5:11 per kilometre for the entire 24 hours — the equivalent of running a 3:38:30 marathon pace continuously for a full day and night.

Congratulations to the entire team and their crew for an outstanding achievement.

If this has inspired you, our ambassador Robin Leathley recently completed the 24-hour Battersea Park race, fuelled by our products to help him go the distance.

Would you take on a 24hr Ultra??

Love a great review! 🙌

Love a great review! 🙌

I’ve just hit my first 20 mile run in preparation for Valencia Marathon in December.
I’ll be aiming to repeat this distance over the next 4 or 5 weeks.
I’ve always been a bit hit and miss on my fueling strategy.
In my first marathon I only used SIS gels and although they did a job I just did not enjoy taking them.
For my last marathon I used Veloforte chews - again these did a job but I struggled with taking them on the move.
I’ve experimented with different gels over the past few months and this was my fueling strategy for yesterday’s 20 miler:
Alternating Protein Rebel Maple Ignite and High 5 Energy Gel Aqua every 35-40 mins
Got to say Protein Rebel definitely seems to be the way to go for me.
Next time out Protein Rebel for the whole run.
