Today is The Soke’s 5th birthday. Since we launched as a team of four ops people and four clinicians, we’ve grown to a team of 100, consisting of some of the most esteemed professionals in our field (+ a dog). I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved, including the literal thousands of individuals and families that we’ve helped. Above all, we couldn’t have done much of it without the support and collaboration of our industry colleagues who’ve entrusted us with the care of their clients and patients over the years, we’re deeply grateful to them all - you know who you are - thank you.

With the daily torrent of announcements coming from powerful voices in the US administration, we must all shudder at the thought of how dangerous misinformation can be when it’s allowed to spread unchecked. This is particularly the case when it comes to conversations we have around neurodiversity, leaving people feeling confused and frightened.

With that in mind: now more than ever, if you have any questions, our specialist Neuro team are available to answer them - including the pros and cons of assessment.

As well as being committed to avoiding unnecessary assessments (and making sure that the individual/parents feel properly informed of the rationale), we’ve designed a process to prioritise accuracy and safeguard against bias: two independent clinicians are involved, providing complementary perspectives to ensure that conclusions (either way) are robust and carefully considered. It’s about providing clarity and reassurance in a way that’s both safe and clinically reliable.

So, if you’re keeping up to date with what’s coming out of The White House:

Children with the occasional behavioural issue don’t necessarily need a therapist - sometimes, the best thing is for parents to resolve a problem within the structures of their own family. To help them, the Soke has launched a remote Advisory Service designed
to provide immediate support to parents with practical, compassionate guidance tailored to their family’s needs.

Whether struggling with anxiety, depression, emerging eating disorders, oppositional behaviour, or potentially dealing with neurodevelopmental conditions, we provide fast, clear, evidence-based advice to help parents understand their child’s behaviour and formulate an immediate, strategic and helpful response.

Soon construction will begin on The Soke's first international outpost, The Kuaya, in Malaysia.

Fundamental to our design plans is a Tiang Seri, or central pillar, an important architectural and symbolic element in a traditional Malay home. Positioned at the heart of the house, it serves not only as a main structural support but also holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. It is the first pillar erected during construction, accompanied by rituals and blessings to ensure protection, prosperity, and harmony for the household.

By placing a symbolic Tiang Seri at the heart of our space, we aim to honour the cultural traditions of our new home country and invite blessings of peace, strength, and healing. This pillar will serve as a grounding feature—both physically and emotionally—for clients, staff, and visitors, representing our commitment to creating a safe, harmonious, and culturally rooted environment. Just as the Tiang Seri holds and centers a traditional Malay home, our hope is that it will anchor our clinic as a sanctuary for well-being, respect, and holistic healing.

Procrastination is often viewed as a self-regulation failure, where individuals delay tasks despite knowing there’ll be negative consequences. It’s closely linked to emotional regulation - people procrastinate not because they’re lazy, but because they’re trying to avoid unpleasant feelings associated with a task, such as anxiety or self-doubt. Cognitive distortions, such as perfectionism or fear of failure, can exacerbate procrastination, leading to a cycle of avoidance and guilt.

Join us at The Soke in Chelsea on Wednesday 18th June for a 90 minute workshop led by Dr Ute Liersch,  offering a refreshing, psychologically-grounded exploration of procrastination as a complex, coping mechanism. The session combines science-backed theory, guided self-reflection, and practical tools to move forward. Identify your personal patterns, triggers, and inner narratives, and begin to map your unique procrastination profile.
