"I am now far more aware of disabled leaders than I was when I first started my career in 2021, when I became visually impaired. These role models are so important for early career professionals and graduates. Without them, we risk losing talent in our sector — the cost of which is far greater than any access requirement.”
– Amelia Silver, Projects and Events Assistant, Art Reach
From December to April, we partnered with Art Reach on a research project commissioned by Arts Council England, exploring how to grow and sustain Disabled Leadership in the Midlands.
Through interviews, surveys, and in-person and online focus groups, we heard directly from disabled leaders in the arts and culture sector.
Amelia shares her personal reflections in this powerful blog, calling for us to go beyond inclusion — and instead focus on power, leadership and lived experience.
