Health Improvement Team Moray

Health Improvement Team Moray Welcome to the Health Improvement Team Moray page.

The Health Improvement Team aims to enable people and communities to improve their health and wellbeing by addressing the wider determinants of health. We do this through supporting the Moray Health and Social Care Partnership in embedding prevention and health improvement as part of its core business. We collaborate with our partners in the planning and implementation of health improvement activities, based on an understanding of the local population needs. We actively work to improve the circumstances which have an impact on health such as poverty, housing, education and employment, in order to create the conditions for individuals and communities to improve their own health and reduce inequalities. For free, confidential health advice on a range of health and wellbeing topics you can speak to a healthpoint advisor. Get in touch by visiting the healthpoint at Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin, IV30 1SN (opening hours may vary), call the free NHS Grampian healthline Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm on 08085 20 20 30 or send us an email at gram.healthpointelgin@nhs.scot

Did you know that April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month? 🏀🥎⚽

According to Macmillan Cancer Support, over 2,000 people are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year in the UK.

Checking your testicles should be a part of your regular routine from puberty onwards, at least once a month. You will get to know what feels normal for you, making it easier to detect a change.

The best time to check your testicles is during, or right after, a warm bath or shower.

If you notice lumps or swelling, pain/aching in the testicles, any differences between the testicles, or something else that is unusual, please contact your GP in the first instance to book an appointment.

For further information on testicular cancer including causes and treatment, please visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/testicular-cancer/
