Health Improvement Team Moray Welcome to the Health Improvement Team Moray page.

The Health Improvement Team aims to enable people and communities to improve their health and wellbeing by addressing the wider determinants of health. We do this through supporting the Moray Health and Social Care Partnership in embedding prevention and health improvement as part of its core business. We collaborate with our partners in the planning and implementation of health improvement activities, based on an understanding of the local population needs. We actively work to improve the circumstances which have an impact on health such as poverty, housing, education and employment, in order to create the conditions for individuals and communities to improve their own health and reduce inequalities. For free, confidential health advice on a range of health and wellbeing topics you can speak to a healthpoint advisor. Get in touch by visiting the healthpoint at Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin, IV30 1SN (opening hours may vary), call the free NHS Grampian healthline Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm on 08085 20 20 30 or send us an email at gram.healthpointelgin@nhs.scot

Let's support Playlist for Life to celebrate the power of personally meaningful music to boost happiness and wellbeing at any age and support people affected by dementia. Start building playlists for yourself and loved ones at https://www.nationalplaylistday.org/

🎧 What songs take you back to a special memory in your life? What songs would always get you up dancing? Music has the ability to take us back in time and remind us of our past, giving us that flashback feeling.

Playlist for Life is a music and dementia charity promoting the benefits of personal music for people living with dementia, their carers and families. Research has shown personal playlists can:

💚 reduce anxiety
💚 improve your mood
💚 make difficult tasks more manageable
💚 evoke memories that can help families and carers connect

It's Falls Prevention Awareness Week | 15th–19th September

This year’s theme is “From Awareness to Action”, to underline the fact that falls are not a normal part of ageing. Most falls can be prevented and older adults have the power to reduce their risk of falling.

This week is all about raising awareness and sharing simple steps we can all take to stay safe, steady, and independent.
Here are some tips to follow:
🔷 Keep active to build strength and balance
🔷 Check your home for trip hazards
🔷 Get regular eye and hearing checks
🔷 Wear well-fitting shoes with good grip

👇🏻 Below are useful links to resources available online. Alternatively, you can pop into the Healthpoint at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin to pick up a printed version. These guides offer practical and emotional support to help older adults stay active, confident, and safe by preventing falls and improving balance and mobility.
