I'm Maria, a qualified Life Coach & Hypnotherapist with 1,000+ sessions of experience. I offer online sessions for 1:1 support, relationships, smoking cessation and more, to fulfill your potential by improving your mental and physical wellbeing. To pursue a career helping others, I graduated in psychology from University College London (UCL) and began working in the mental health sector, including the NHS. I later moved into client services within design agencies and as a result, I can relate to the challenges of changing careers and juggling a busy lifestyle in a desk-bound job. I finally decided to fulfil my ‘true calling’ in a holistic way by combining my experience and passions for movement, wellness, and creativity by becoming a Life Coach & Hypnotherapist incorporating physical and mental wellbeing. I am also a Lived Experience Practitioner, using my personal experiences of mental and physical health challenges to improve NHS mental health services.

This year’s theme is prioritising mental health at work.

Living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME), I’ve had to face the reality of not being able to stay as physically active as I once was. This includes working outside of the home in fitness studios where I was once teaching group fitness & PT. As someone who currently works fully remotely to best manage my physical health, my mental health including at work has inevitably been impacted.

This journey keeps teaching me how to navigate, adjust and redefine my career and my overall lifestyle to not only survive, but to thrive. I’ve therefore had to find different ways to engage with work and the outside world to find a new sense of connection, balance and wellbeing. Including taking much needed time out to enjoy moments with loved ones (here’s a photo of me on my recent trip to Cyprus playing backgammon with my 94 year old grandad!).

As an online Fitness & Wellbeing Coach + Hypnotherapist, I’ve also supported many clients navigating their physical and mental health challenges to thrive in various careers - whether working remotely or in person. Some areas include managing various stages of (pre) burnout, navigating the stress from Performance Improvement Plans (PIP), relationships with co-workers/managers, improving confidence and performance for progression, managing demanding workloads (on top of other life stressors!), as well as navigating job/career changes.

If you would like to find out more about how I can support you with your mental health at work through life coaching and hypnotherapy with online sessions, get in touch!

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes I received last week 🥰 Whilst I’m temporarily living in Bournemouth, I’m enjoying wholesome moments in new surroundings. For my birthday weekend I enjoyed:

- Time outdoors - being barefoot on golden beaches 🏖 walks along natural wonders like Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove 🌊 seeing red squirrels on Brownsea Island 🌳🐿
- Good food & company - whether at a top restaurant with a view 🌅 or comfort food & multicoloured cocktails in a basement whilst playing crazy golf 🍹🍕⛳️

Life feels good when having fun exploring new places, but on Mental Health Day I had another significant blow which knocked me to another low. Whilst I’m still feeling emotionally sore, I recognise that what helps me to move past getting stuck in a rut of negativity is to allow myself time to process, cry/let it out, but also to GET OUT.

Whilst having a change of scenery helps in itself, yesterday I reflected that being outside on its own isn’t always enough to disrupt my negative loop. But enjoying the simple pleasures of an ice cream on the beach was soothing by tapping into multiple senses🍦

What really helps me though is to let out some energy doing something I love in a supportive class. I was so grateful to have aerial hoop & pole classes in the evening, as I left feeling so much better after doing something fun & challenging whilst connecting with others. I still feel sensitive today, but it’s a big improvement ❤️‍🩹

So whenever you’re feeling sad / low / upset / angry / frustrated etc, take the time to process & let it out. But if you feel stuck in a loop, maybe try getting out, changing your scenery, releasing some energy, losing yourself in an activity you normally love (for me doing this with others is particularly helpful to get out of my head).

July marks 1 year of me life coaching for MYNDUP!

Stopping the ‘one size fits all’ approach to mental health, MYNDUP offer 1:1 video sessions across the whole mental health spectrum:
✨ Therapy & Counselling
👨‍💻 Life & Career Coaching
🧘🏽‍♂️ Mindfulness & Meditation

In my first year:
👥 25+ clients
🗣 400+ sessions, from short term interventions to seeing clients for 10+ months
🧑🏾‍🏫 receiving Su***de First Aid training

I’ve supported people across various corporate backgrounds & NHS employees through a range of challenges, including:
- Career: managing work related stress (including burnout), deciding whether to change job/company/career, applying for new roles, transitioning into the next stage of their career
- Unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours: anxiety, low mood, OCD
- Improving self esteem & confidence
- Unpicking self limiting beliefs
- Managing time more effectively
- Processing trauma
- Finding a sense of purpose
- Transitioning into parenthood
- Smoking cessation
- Improving relationships with friends, family & colleagues
- Optimising health & wellbeing: becoming more active, managing health conditions & making healthier choices, including a better work-life balance.

Here’s a lovely testimonial from one of my clients I worked with for 10 months:

“Maria is a fantastic coach who has really helped me approach a range of different aspects of my life that have been causing me stress. She’s really helped me see clear paths and asks thought provoking questions that really helped make me establish my priorities to make me a healthier and happier person.

As someone who was previously sceptical of speaking to a coach I’d recommend speaking to Maria to anyone as her range of knowledge and approach to helping you feel centred and improve yourself is really awesome!”

Thanks to the MYNDUP team for being supportive, & here’s to more years of supporting others! 💖

As a life coach, I too see my own coach to help me work through various challenges & to keep me accountable. Could a coach, therapist or other practitioner support your journey?

“If your mind is empty it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s mind there are few” ~ Shunryu Suzuki

Like many clients I used to suffer a lot with imposter syndrome. Sometimes those feelings of self-doubt, anxiety & embarrassment still come up, but more & more I’m valuing the beauty of bringing a beginner’s mindset to learning. Even in areas where others may look to you as an expert, or at least further ahead on the road, you can still tap into this attitude.

Instead of enduring that 💩 feeling of needing to learn & master so much more before you can begin to feel like you’re ‘good enough’ (of which I have MANY years of experience), encourage that sense of wonder that you get from being - or at least feeling like - a beginner.

Positively reframing this can help tap into curiosity, excitement & playfulness. Like clapping yourself like a kid with a feeling of yaaaay when picking up new skills...(me in this vid 😅)

This year I’ve learnt & continue to learn so much 📚

I still have my coursework & case studies to complete, but I’ve just finished the training for my 9 month course that has deepened my life coaching & hypnotherapy practice (& I’m pleased to say I passed my exam with distinction!).

Last week I attended an awesome upskill at with Head of Education introducing concepts I hadn’t heard of before, including training power & its importance with gen pop members.

Today I had another great team training session with focussing on training the upper body & hypertrophy, including nutrition considerations.

I'm absolutely loving attending a range of classes - this evening I trained Trapeze with , tried dance class Callback & Olympic Lifting with , currently learning jerks after a month of cleans 🏋🏻‍♀️

I’m still human & have days where I pull myself apart, but I find that focusing on inexperience as being humbling rather than hindering is a more productive & pleasurable way of life!

How can you bring a beginner’s mindset to learning new skills & your areas of expertise? ✨

5 years married to this one…💝

Whilst this was a very special ☀️ day in London with our nearest & dearest, life is made up over so many ‘little’ moments that we often take for granted, don’t fully engage in, rush past to get to the next big occasion.

When learning about therapeutic work with couples, my tutor highlighted the notion of actively ‘choosing your partner every single day’, & this extends to every single moment.

✨ How you greet each other when you come in from work.
✨ How you look at one another over a meal.
✨ How you think about them when they’re not in your presence.
✨ How you make the effort to remember their idiosyncrasies that make their day a little easier & more joyful.

Whilst we help each other grow by improving our weaknesses, we also enjoy playing to our strengths. To support Damon working super hard for our future, I like being the ‘organiser of fun’ (making best use of my previous life project management skills!)… tapping into 6 Human Needs, I’m looking forward to taking him for 🍽 &🍹to a surprise location tonight (Significance & Contribution) + Sunday chilling together at a hotel with pool, which is becoming a regular thing of ours (Certainty) to carve out quality time together (Connection) away from the norm (Uncertainty/Variety) & have the space to reflect on what we want from life & each other (Growth).

✨ How are you showing up in all the little moments in your relationships?
✨ How can you support one another to meet your human needs?

Lovely feedback from one of my life coaching clients 💝

Active listening & reflecting back is a huge part of the life coaching process - it gives you as the client an opportunity to:

💭 Hear your thoughts from an outside voice. Despite the same narrative going round & round internally, this can give you a chance to hear what you’re experiencing in a different way.

👥 Ensure we’re both on the same page & you’re fully understood to build a strong rapport in a safe space.

🔎 Add anything that you might have missed - having open space to offload can allow things that you wouldn’t have ordinarily picked up on to surface for us to explore.

It’s often the case that clients start off focussing on one area, later expanding &/or transitioning to other areas depending on what’s of most importance to you in the moment.

Areas that we can explore:
✨ Work / life balance
✨ Managing stress, anxiety, fears, low mood
✨ Confidence & self-esteem
✨ Transitions
✨ Career (change)
✨ Relationships
✨ Wellbeing
✨ Values & purpose
✨ Performance
✨ Habits inc Smoking cessation

If you could wake up & one area of your life be significantly improved, what would you choose?

Here’s some of my life coaching family from my training this weekend. After becoming an accredited life coach with Evolve, I decided to broaden & deepen my practice through their 9 month course which is nearly coming to an end.

This weekend, along with Photo Therapy (using a selection of photos to explore significant memories & emerging patterns), we delved into Parts Therapy & Hypnosis (exploring & shifting the different parts/voices within us), Timelines (illuminating memories across our past to better understand & make use of the present & step into the future).

🎞 When did you last dig out your old photos?
📖 Which ones stand out & have a story behind them?
✨ What was that time in your life like, how has it influenced where you are today & what learnings could enhance your future?

Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

Since joining over a year ago, I’ve grown so much as a person & as a trainer. I’m addicted to learning & really enjoyed today’s team training session delivered by & .nutrition at the Marylebone studio.

Every time we come together as a team I love finding out more about us as individuals & what we bring. I’m inspired by how much potential there is to learn from the whole team & how we can better shape our client’s lives & the industry.

Who’s in your dream team?
When’s the last time you got together for a group learning session?
When are you next going to make it happen?
