Our team of sponsored riders is growing by the day!

This week, we're absolutely thrilled to welcome Harry Horgan Eventing to the Optimus family. 😊

Based in Buckinghamshire, Harry runs HHE Sport Horses where his focus is on producing and selling potential event horses for the professional market.

With multiple Burghley Young Event Horse (BYEH) winners and placings plus a win at the BYEH final in 2018, he's perfectly placed to do so!

Having represented Ireland at the world young horse championships in Mondial du Lion in 2024, he's now looking forward to bringing on the next class of future superstars and looking forward to using the Optimus Lumina device on his young horses to aid them in their development and training.

As Harry is based almost on our doorstep, we've already been up to meet the team and all Harry's lovely young horses, and we're looking forward to working with him closely over the coming months.

🌟NEW AMBASSADOR ALERT! 🌟

We're absolutely delighted to welcome Sara Chittleburgh and her business, EquiTem, to the Optimus family.

Sara is an Equine Manual Therapist and Body Worker with over nine years of experience working with horses across England, Wales, and Sweden. Through her company, EquiTem, she offers a multifaceted treatment approach, blending manual therapy, rehabilitation techniques, and advanced therapeutic technologies.

With a strong belief in proactive, holistic care, EquiTem combines soft tissue and structural techniques with research-led modalities and targeted exercise to support long-term musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation, and performance.

Since incorporating the Optimus Lumina into her treatments nine months ago, Sara has found it to be an invaluable tool — so much so that it now features in every session.

She has observed excellent results, particularly in reducing pain, softening chronic tension, and supporting the management of osteoarthritis. Clients consistently report improved comfort and movement in their horses, and many have shown interest in investing in the technology themselves for long-term maintenance and rehabilitation.

As an ambassador, Sara is passionate about making red light therapy more accessible to both professionals and owners.

She offers the Optimus Lumina as part of tailored rehabilitation packages and will soon be expanding this to include purchase and rental options for clients. With a growing international client base, Sara looks forward to sharing her knowledge and clinical experience with the wider equine and animal health community.

Welcome Sara!

Hettie is an unbelievable 15 year old! Apart from a few grey hairs, you would never guess her age. Here she is today enjoying her Optimus Lumina red Light Therapy after her massage. ❤️🐶

•Red light therapy relieves pain and relaxes muscle tension from overuse injuries
•Red and infrared light supports pets living with chronic conditions such as arthritis
•Blue and red light assist wound healing after injury or surgery

We're really proud to be able to raise valuable funds for Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire and donate £5 for every device sold via our online shop - specifically to support the dog team - who do an incredible job searching for missing persons in/around Oxfordshire. 👏

It's also lovely to be able to catch up with the dog team and see how they're doing...

Last week, we caught up with team lead, Mel, who told us:

🐕 Four air scenting dogs are currently up for national assessments for Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire in May and June. To get to this stage, the dogs have passed a day and night mock assessment to a recognised national standard.

🐕 The trailing dogs are progressing well and it is hoped we could get a qualified trailing dog this year - the first one in our team.

🐕 One of our trailing dogs recently had a shoulder injury and part of his rehabilitation was the use of Optimus Lumina. We can confirm he is now back to full fitness and in training again.

This really is great news: ground scenting dogs are incredibly useful when the Police can pinpoint a missing-person’s last location - perhaps in their car, or from discarded clothing.

This year's Badminton Horse Trials was a tough test for both horses and riders - huge congratulations to Max Warburton Eventing for their completion - and for such a beautiful clear round showjumping on Sunday.

We all know 'it takes a village' to get a horse to this level and we're proud to play a tiny part in Max and Rev's journey.

Just knowing that our Lumina red, infrared and blue light device was on hand to help soothe Rev's sore muscles post XC and set him up for such a special final day, is just wonderful.

Roll on Aston and Bicton!

We thought it would be a great idea to show you around our device, so here's a quick intro. 🎥

What questions do you have about red, infrared and blue light therapy?

Feel free to pop them in the comments and we'll do our best to answer.

Happy Friday everyone! 😊

Good things come to those who wait ... and we had to wait three whole extra weeks for this gorgeous c**t to arrive!

A stunning first foal out of Sylvester and our much loved Selle Français mare, Callie (Callgirl).

Right now, the fields around us are bursting with buttercups, which can often present a problem for our horses and ponies.

Buttercups belong to the ranunculacaea family and contain a toxin called protoanemonin.

This toxin is particularly problematic for horses as it can cause digestive issues, skin irritation, and even colic if ingested in large quantities. And while its bitter taste generally makes it unpalatable for horses, it can be consumed when other forage options are scarce.

💡 Light therapy to the rescue! 💡

When any illness or injury presents, your first port of call is always your vet.

But, following assessment (and treatment), photobiomodulation (or low level light therapy) could have a part to play in your horse's recovery.

This therapy utilises specific wavelengths of light to promote healing and stimulate cellular processes. While research on photobiomodulation for buttercup toxicity in horses is still in its early stages, existing studies on wound healing and inflammation offer promising insights.

Here's how different wavelengths could benefit:

🔴Red Light (630-670 nm): Studies have shown red light to be effective in reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair. This could potentially help alleviate skin irritation caused by buttercup sap.

🔴Infrared Light (700-1000 nm): Infrared light can pe*****te deeper into tissues, promoting cellular growth and regeneration. This could be beneficial for healing any internal damage caused by protoanemonin ingestion.

🔵 Blue Light (400-490 nm): Blue light has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. While buttercups themselves aren't microbial, this could be helpful in preventing secondary infections from skin lesions caused by the toxin.

Spring is the season of change and this year the exceptionally warm dry weather has resulted in more tree pollen being released and, with low rainfall, not being washed out of the atmosphere.

So while we’re all busy sneezing, what does it mean for our horses?

Bright sunlight, insects, wind and high pollen counts can be triggers for seasonal headshaking (uncontrollable shaking, flicking, or striking of the head), and for horses with diagnosed neuropathic headshaking, pollen is just one of many stimulants that can trigger a response.

Our latest blog explains how red and infrared light therapy is emerging as a therapeutic treatment that can soothe symptoms for horses suffering from headshaking. Huge thanks to Sarah Hawkins Dressage for putting theory into practice with her horse Kanga!

Lovely to see our gorgeous new numnahs under the saddles of Coburg and Deerpairc Revelry who came 1st and 3rd respectively in the Advanced Intermediate (AI) class at Barbury last weekend. What a great start to the season for Max Warburton Eventing !

Deerpairc is now preparing for and we wish Max, Deerpairc and all their connections the best of luck - as well as a nice rest this weekend while Max, Paige and the team take the younger horses for an outing to Oxstalls. 😊
