Your body beliefs are often rooted deep and have a big impact on your life. Usually negative.

To feel at peace in your body is what everyone deserves to feel.

A strange concept but a powerful question.

One that helps you understand how impacted you are by the pressure to be slim.

Imagine you are not aware of what your body looks like.

Would you eat differently? Exercise differently? Take care of yourself differently?

Your first thought might be 'yeah, I'd eat what I like and not bother exercising'.

But is that true?

How would it feel to eat without guilt or worry? Would you spiral and overdo it or stop when satisfied?

What if you didn't exercise to change/maintain physical appearance but to enjoy the other benefits?

Would you be more in tune with how actions make you feel over how they make you look?

If you struggle with food and your body, give it try and ask 'what action would I take if my appearance didn't come into it'.

I choose to reject diet culture every day.

It is completely understandable to feel bad about your body in the face of many opinions, judgements and focus on appearance.

But when you can direct some fire at a system that wants to keep you unhappy, it feels easier 😉

Do I value my health? Absolutely.

Do I take care of my body and mind? Yes.

Do I respect myself? 100%

Will I feel bad if my body is softer than societal expectations? No.

Will I hide under baggy clothes or wear dark to blend in? No I will not.

Will I question my coaching abilities because my body has changed? No way.

I am fine as I am, thank you. My body will fluctuate depending on food intake, exercise levels, daily activity, workload, mood, circumstances etc.

My levels of self worth and self respect remain steady throughout.

Food is not good or bad. It doesn't come with shame or embarrassment attached. You have been taught to add that in.

And you can equally reject it.

Eating is not a shameful act. Excess is not shameful either. It is understandable. Chronic dieting, rules and hyper focus on bodies can easily lead to an unbalanced approach to food.

If there are habits you'd like to adjust, you can work on those. To be honest with yourself is self compassion in action.

But changes can be made with respectful self-talk and understanding.

Same destination, different path.

This lady realised she would only find moderation in changing the way she viewed food.

Not by trying over and over to eliminate it.

No wonder it came with a feeling of relief!

She is now able to relax and enjoy tasty foods, taking her time and not telling herself she is wrong for doing so.

The moralisation of food and associated guilt is what keeps you stuck in frustrating all or nothing behaviours. Change your perspective and your habits change, too ✨️

No goal, tool or method is wrong. It is how you respond to them.

When mental peace is not present, you are not on the right path. There are components missing.

Make sure you are addressing those missing pieces.

It is the difference between feeling stressed and frustrated or content and enjoying a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle.

I cannot stress enough the importance of finding what works for you.

There may be some unlearning to do, but you always have the answers, and you know what is right for you.

More instructions and plans, although helpful, are not a long-term solution.

Get to the root of why you think and feel the ways you do. Get clear on what holds you back and what your habits would look like before all the conditioning took hold.

It is not wrong, bad or weak to take pleasure from food.

And yet we are taught to believe it is. Conditioned to believe that the strong can withstand the desire. The weak give in.

This is false.

Having a connection to food is completely normal. It is many things to many people and none of them are wrong.

What might need to be adjusted are your current patterns created by the constant pressure to eat differently.
