Choline intake during pregnancy is often overlooked 🙈…. the optimal intake during pregnancy is 450mg/day. Foods rich in choline are eggs (approx 147mg), organ meat such as liver (85g 240mg), seafood, Shiitake mushrooms, soy beans, chicken, turkey, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, dairy produce…..

Choline isn’t in most pregnancy supplements so it’s important to consume choline via your food intake.

Last week was an absolute write off for me. Especially when it came to my own training.

I was shattered on the Monday & probably still slightly hungover from my hen do 😂…. I just couldn’t seem to catch up on my sleep.

And if I’m tired then “beware of the Coz”😂

Just because I’m a personal trainer (the best job in the world 😉) it doesn’t mean I’m super human & I train every day…..far from it. I definitely don’t have super motivational powers. I wish I did!!👩🏻‍🎤

My motivation waivers too, don’t you know!

My motivation & energy to lift weights was at an all time low last week BUT I still turned up because I WANT to achieve my goal & I WANT to be the best version of me that I can be ….
….& well, I do have zero excuse…I only have to walk a few feet to my studio 😂.

I lifted lighter weights.
I performed the exercises I wanted to do.
I chose the exercises I enjoy doing & the exercises I’m good at💪🏻.

I turned up! And that’s the point. That’s what matters IF you want to achieve your goal(s).

Yeah, you might miss one session but don’t miss that second session. That’s when the habit starts to dwindle. Don’t let that “f**k it” mentality set in!

Just TURN UP!!! Do what YOU enjoy doing. Do 30 minutes instead of your usual hour. Do something. If you really have no motivation to lift & you don’t want to miss that second (exercise) session in a row, go for a walk or a bike ride instead (or use the cross trainer whilst watching your favourite Netflix show). Just keep that exercise habit momentum going!

If you train with me & you really aren’t feeling it that day, just tell me. You choose what you want to do. You can always sit on the bike and have a chat if you want to!

Turn up, get it done & I swear you’ll feel so much better for it afterwards 😌

What do you want to achieve? Why do you want to achieve it? Who are you doing this for? ♥️

How will your life differ as a result of achieving your goal?😌

Self determination & happiness

What do you REALLY want?

HOW will you achieve it?

What MATTERS to you?

Do they align with your VALUES?

Do you have CONTROL over what you want to / need to achieve?

Are you setting your EXPECTATIONS within a realistic reach?

Will you be able to ADHERE to the steps you have set yourself?

How will you enable yourself to stay MOTIVATED?

Life happens. Sometimes it doesn’t pan out the way you planned. Sometimes other routes need to be taken in order to achieve the things you really want! There will be days you will feel less positive, days you feel like everything is working against you ❤️....

Take action. Write down your answers to the above questions. Write down the reasons why you WILL succeed.

Believe in yourself. Believe in the process.

(This photo is a reminder to myself that I can be happy, I can be positive.... last week I was having a very negative week so I did the above.... I wrote down all of the reasons why my next round of WILL work plus I took action by arranging a counselling session for this week to help me through my negative thoughts. Ask for help if you are struggling at the moment....life happens! ❤️)

"The ability to adapt and self manage in the face of social, physical and emotional challenges"

Your priorities towards leading a healthy lifestyle don’t have to be consistently favouring one or certain elements of health (Physiological, Psychological, Social, Emotional, Intellectual, Spiritual, Economic).

Your priorities can & will most likely change over time. Life happens. Circumstances arise.

Whats important to you in your current situation? (P.S.You can have more than one top priority)

Tonight at 5pm I had peppermint tea & my usual weekday snack of fruit, Greek yoghurt and nuts instead of cracking open a bottle of 🍷.

My priorities have changed. It may only be for a short period. I’m hoping it’ll be for at least the next 9 months 🤞🌈👶🏻

Well, there’s one thing for sure....I won’t be dieting come January!
I am pretty fortunate that with each lockdown I’ve managed to keep active by teaching my online classes & have actually lost weight (please don’t hate me🙈).

If you decide to diet from January, that’s totally cool. Whether you diet or not is your choice. Don’t feel pressured into dieting and if you do decide to go on a diet then focus on why you want to lose weight. Is it for health reasons? Why do you think losing weight will benefit you? And PLEASE don’t succumb to anyone selling a detox or cleanse... you have a liver that’ll do that job for you! Save your money!

You also don’t need to cut out everything you enjoy eating either ....restriction doesn’t equate to a healthy relationship with food. Cutting out sugar in January will probably mean you’ll over consume come February. BUT if you find having certain foods in your house creates temptation, then remove them. Create a food environment that allows you to reach your goal.

Don’t set unrealistic goals.....if you didn’t go to the gym/train/run those 5 times a week you promised yourself on the 1st January 2020 then really, what are the chances of you doing it in 2021? Maybe aim for twice a week.....do this for a few weeks.... if it’s working out and the habit is developing then look to increase it to 3 times a week and so on, until you reach the number of times which is doable for you....and remember, rest days are important!

Basically, do what you feel will work for you.... you COULD just go back to your normal eating / exercise routine. I know, radical right?!😉

I bet you that in a week or two you’ll have lost any Christmas weight you may have gained....WITHOUT over exercising and without restricting your favourite foods.
