Tracheal suction training… but not the kind where you sit through slides and forget it a week later.
We were back at this week working with their nursing team and yet again things got properly hands-on.
Think real-world scenarios, clinical decision making under pressure… and homemade sputum (with added green glitter for effect), yes I went there! Messy, slightly chaotic, and exactly how airway management can be in reality.
We also finally named our simulator model...any guesses what we’ve gone with? 🧐
What stood out most was the quality of the nurses in the room.
Engaged, asking the right questions, and really getting into the detail of:
• When suction is actually indicated
• Recognising different tracheostomy tubes
• Adapting technique to the patient in front of you
• Safe and effective yankauer suction in practice
No death by PowerPoint. Just practical, realistic training that builds confidence and clinical reasoning.
Because when it comes to airway clearance, the difference between confident and hesitant practice is felt immediately by the patient.
If your team would benefit from hands-on respiratory training that actually translates into practice, get in touch.
And seriously… what do you think we named the simulator?
