💛 Down’s Syndrome and autism can co‑exist - and many people live with a dual diagnosis.

On World Down Syndrome Day, a reminder that autism in people with Down’s Syndrome is often missed or misunderstood, meaning needs can go unmet. Recognising both identities matters.

When we understand the whole person, we can offer better support, greater inclusion, and more compassionate care - at home, in school, and in the community.

Understanding changes lives. 💛

💙🧦 Today we’ve been celebrating World Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week at The Owl Centre ahead of World Down Syndrome Day tomorrow…

We’re proud to be celebrating the incredible individuals, families, and community that make The Owl what it is today, so some of our colleagues (and their four-legged friends!) thought they’d rock their best socks for the day…

Which pair has your vote?

Wonderful to see our very own Dr Yazan Fakhoury speaking at Pulse LIVE Leeds GP Conference yesterday on the subject of ADHD in primary care.

"One thing that stood out - both during the session and in the conversations afterwards - was how much uncertainty still exists around recognising and supporting ADHD in practice."

A fantastic ambassador for The Owl, with many of the questions centred around sleep and overlap with other conditions - a reminder that ADHD is often not about what is immediately visible, but what sits underneath.

Clinicians, want to lead an exceptional neurodevelopmental team while keeping your clinical skills sharp? 🧠

We’re expanding our leadership team at Owl and looking for a Neurodevelopmental Team Lead.

What’s in it for you:
💷 Great Earning Potential: Up to £65,000 FTE (depending on experience) for a full-time role.
⚖️ The Best of Both Worlds: Balance team mentorship and service innovation with a small, manageable clinical caseload.
🤝 Purpose-Driven Work: Shape the future of our care pathways, partnering with NHS trusts, private clients, and even brands like Netflix!
🚀 Career Growth: Ongoing CPD, supervision, and the chance to drive real clinical governance and quality improvements.

The Role: You’ll oversee a team of Neurodevelopmental Clinicians, providing clinical supervision, managing workloads, and driving KPIs. Alongside leadership, you'll independently administer Autism (and ideally ADHD) assessments to stay grounded in clinical practice.

You need to be a registered clinician (Clinical Psych, OT, or MH Nurse) with solid neurodevelopmental assessment experience (ADOS-2/ADI-R) and a proven track record in people management.

Don't tick every single box? Apply anyway - we value passion, leadership, and reliability over a perfect CV.
