Setting intentions for the moon cycle ahead, I’ve been reflecting on areas of my life, or parts of me that could do with receiving more of my awareness..
This new moon in peace-keeping, harmony loving sign of relationships Libra, for me brought into focus..
How often I prioritise harmony, balance and cohesiveness in relationships over relating authentically..
How often I hold back voicing my thoughts and needs, struggle with indecisiveness and even remain passive at times, in favour of agreeableness..
I understand this is classic people-pleasing tendencies, but this understanding alone doesn’t help unless I bring my focus down into my body and experience it somatically, as my nervous system stuck in a self-protective state trying to keep me safe from what it perceives as a threat; in this case the threat of not belonging..
The nervous system doesn’t understand me telling myself I’m safe though, I have to show it..
This is where the power and potential of a somatic approach to Yoga lies, with its internal focus on physical sensations in the body, the slow and mindful movements coupled with swaying, rocking and spiralling, and the emphasis on creating safety in the body as it releases stuck thoughts, emotions and decades old tension that keeps us armoured and disconnected, rather than comfortable in our own skin, owning our truth.
I’m setting the intention to tune more into my body, allowing it to set the pace, when it comes to communicating more authentically..
To making decisions for myself even when they disrupt the status quo..
To speaking up and using my voice amidst my desire for harmony.
It takes time and consistency to release old patterns from the body, but working with how and what you feel, is the most powerful agent for the change we all desire.
As part of The Moon Lodge held at in the Cotswolds next month, I’ll be guiding us all through a Full Moon Somatic Yoga Flow, with a focus on Taurus themes of our sensual nature and self-love, followed by a make your own full moon bath salts workshop with Katie from
