TFL โ€ข Glute Med โ€ข QL โ€” the lateral stabilisation chain nobodyโ€™s talking about โ›“๏ธ

These 3 arenโ€™t just neighbours โ€” theyโ€™re fascially linked and mechanically interdependent.

๐Ÿ”น TFL (Tensor Fascia Lata)
Blends into your IT band.
Helps with hip flexion, abduction, and internal rotation.
Can get tight when your glute med isnโ€™t doing its job.

๐Ÿ”น Glute Med
Main abductor & frontal-plane stabiliser in single-leg stance.
Works with the QL to keep your pelvis level when you walk, run, or load one leg.
Weak glute med = your QL has to overwork to hike the hip

๐Ÿ”น QL (Quadratus Lumborum)
Deep lumbar stabiliser
Hikes the pelvis on the stance side
Chronic overuse = low back compression and stiffness

The loop:
