Just a reminder, guys. Payment is due the same day as I come to see your horse. With Fayes' help, we are up to date with our invoicing. So if I've been to see your horse and you haven't paid yet, please give this your urgent attention. Chasing payments takes time that atm I use for the free consultations ( coming to see your horse, assessing videos). Please check whether you owe me a payment.

It's that Jolly holiday time again. I will be flying out to Barcelona to see our administrator Faye Morrison and so will be non communicado from Thursday 15th until Tuesday 20th. Faye however is on duty Wed, Fri, and Monday as usual. I will catch up with messages on Tuesday but some of you will know I am an archer and will be helping organise a big national competition and away again from the following Thursday 22nd until Monday 26th.
I will be checking in with messages and will reply to any I consider to be urgent whilst I am away. But if you worried the first port of call should be your Vet.

Its going to get really hot over the next few days. Please don't exercise your pets, walk dogs, ride horses in the heat of the day. Check your outdoor pets too.

Just to let everyone know. Spain has a Major Internet and power outage and so Faye Morrison has been forcejeo off grid. So we may take a little longer to get back to you.

Do you think your horse would benefit from our sweet itch vaccine this year?

We know it doesn’t feel very Spring like with the rain we’ve had today, but did you know that warm wet weather is when midges thrive?! For some of us, they have started making an appearance already!

The “sweet itch vaccine” was originally used as a preventative treatment for ringworm but has since been seen to reduce the horses’ allergic response to the saliva of midges... which is what makes them itch and rub off their manes and tails!

- Two doses of this “vaccine” given two weeks apart can benefit sweet itch suffers by reducing their clinical signs by 50-80% (anecdotally!).

- The “sweet itch vaccine” is most beneficial if given before the midge season starts.... which is why we have already “vaccinated” over 40 horses with it this month!

- Depending on the summer, some horses also benefit from a “booster” early autumn.

Whilst most horses respond well to the injection, it can cause a localised “vaccine” reaction in some horses, similar to a reaction to the flu vaccine so this is something to discuss with your vet.

Currently, the “sweet itch vaccine” is out of stock with no date when it will become available again. Thankfully, our fantastic nurse Alex proactively ordered us as much stock as possible in anticipation of this, and so we have been able to still offer this injection to all our clients who wanted it this year for their horses.

We also still have some doses available!!

If you think your horse would benefit from this injection, don’t delay and give our office a call to book your horse in, or speak to one of our vets on their next visit.

So dig out those fly rugs asap, spring is finally on the way!

Hi everyone,

Hope you and your horses are having a lovely, and not too cold, start to the year. Just to let you know Kathy is away until Monday so won't be answering any messages or calls until then. In case of emergency, do contact your vet until then.

Have a lovely weekend one and all
Faye
