One of the things I've become really intrigued about whilst I've been facilitating The Sacred Spiral course is the way in which our bodies move in spirals. In fact, we don't just move in spirals, we are inherently spiralic in nature.
The spiral is everywhere: galaxies swirl, vines curl (think of the fern), and the ocean tides roll in circles. The womb bleeds and renews in cycles, the moon waxes and wanes, the seasons flow in a never-ending cycle.
Spirals are found in structures all through the body, including our DNA, the helices that tiny actin filaments and other proteins form, the crossed-helical arrangement of collagen in muscular fascia, and the readily visible layered and crossed-spiral patterns in the muscles. Even the flow of our blood has been widely recognised as spiralic.
Energetically we have spirals in the form of chakras (energy vortices) that vary in number depending on which tradition or practice you align with. The Kundalini Shakti lies coiled at the base of the spine (3.5 or 2.5 times depending on the lineage) and when She is awakened, She spirals up the shushumna nadi to unite with Siva at the crown.
Linear movement belongs to the mind but spirals belong to the body. When we spiral, we bypass overthinking and drop into sensation. We meet the body where she already is: non-linear, intuitive, alive. Spiral movement is how life moves through us and this is what our focus will be on our Re-wild & Re-centre Half Day Retreat next month.
There are just two spaces left now so if a morning of blissful movement therapy, water therapy, and all-round nourishment for your nervous system is calling to you (you'll know, because your body will be responding to these words!) then I would love you to join us!
This event will be a wonderful evolution of all my training and experience to date and I can't wait to share with you.
