Naturality Colonic Hydrotherapy Berkhamsted's ARCH registered and Inspected Colonic Hydrotherapy Suite offering Holistic Health Care Colon Hydrotherapy is not a new treatment.

In fact, it was used in hospitals until recent times when it was replaced by strong purgatives which are used for emptying the bowel before procedures or treating faecal impaction. The colonic treatment stimulates bowel activity by using the body's natural nerve and muscular response mechanisms, so is essentially a natural treatment. Laxatives are used to initiate a response by acting in different ways, such as by irritation or reversing the osmotic gradient. By using the body's natural nerve and muscular activity colonic hydrotherapy may help to tone and exercise the bowel, thus aiding the evacuation of waste both during and after treatment. Colonic treatment is used as a naturopathic modality and clients who choose this treatment include those who suffer from various bowel conditions. One of the best things about colonic hydrotherapy is that the benefits of the treatment are very personal to the client. This means that as a client you will know how you feel after the treatment. You won't need to be influenced by anyone else.

I have a few spaces left in my body work therapy spaces. I offer out half days or full days ( where available).

A half day week maybe ideal for someone who is transitioning from working within a corporate role and would like to move into private practice. Building up your client base takes a while so a soft commitment of a half or a couple of half days a week can be ideal when in the transition period.

My clinic has now been established for 20 years in Berkhamsted and hosts mainly talking and body work therapists. If you are looking to find a professional space to work from , be with like minded therapists yet be totally independent , drop me a line, let me show you the space I provide to see if it would work for you.

🌿 Constipation is one of the most common side effects reported with Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and other GLP-1 receptor agonists like Ozempic. These medications slow gastric emptying, which can help with satiety and blood sugar control, but also slows down digestion — leading to bloating, gas, and constipation.

💧 1. Hydrate More Than Usual
• Why: These meds slow your gut, so water is crucial to keep things moving.
• Tip: Aim for 2.5–3 liters/day, especially if you’re also increasing fiber.
• Add electrolytes (e.g., trace minerals, coconut water) to avoid fluid imbalance.

🥦 2. Add Gentle, Soluble Fiber (But Go Slow!)
• Best Choices: Oats, chia seeds, psyllium husk, ground flax, cooked veggies.
• Caution: Too much fiber too fast without water = worse bloating.
• Start small and build over a few days.

🚶‍♀️ 3. Get Moving — Literally
• Light activity like walking or yoga can help stimulate bowel movements.
• Try a 10-15 minute walk after meals to encourage motility.

💩 4. Try Magnesium Supplements
• Magnesium citrate or glycinate can help relax the bowels.
• Start with 200–400 mg at night.

🧴 5. Use Colonic Hydrotherapy (Colonics) or Enemas as Needed
• Helps clear out impacted waste and relieves bloating short-term.
• Especially helpful if you’re feeling “stuck” and nothing else is working.

🍋 6. Morning Gut Routine

Many people find this combo effective:
• Warm water with lemon or apple cider vinegar
• A bit of sea salt
• Gentle abdominal massage (clockwise around your belly)

Getting ready for your colonic treatment doesn’t have to be complicated. If you are looking to change lifestyle and diet, a colonic can be part of those adjustments. You can have regular treatments to keep yourself feeling good and to allow your body to adjust to changes.

I always suggest not eating anything too big an hour before treatment, otherwise it will feel uncomfortable. Keep yourself hydrated, sipping water throughout the day, but try not to drink a large amount just before you come, as again you may find your bladder feels too full halfway through treatment.

There’s nothing you have to avoid, just try not to overeat. We will chat about what your aims are with your health, and see what other nutritional choices you can make to help you.

BOOKING ADVICE 💦

If you are new to colonic hydrotherapy and not sure what to book in for , I suggest you book for a colonic without an e***a as we can discuss in the first appointment what you are coming to me for and what the benefits are of an e***a for you before you commit to the add on. Of course, if you know exactly what you want, and have had colonics before , book the add on e***a and let me know in the notes on booking what you think you would like , coffee or herbal or give me an idea if you are fasting or even going on holiday and would like to feel less bloated before travelling.

🌱 5 things to help you to prepare for a colonic.

1️⃣ What exactly is a colonic?

A colonic, also known as colon hydrotherapy, is a gentle and non-invasive procedure that helps cleanse the colon. It involves introducing warm, filtered water into the colon to remove built-up waste and toxins, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! 🌿

2️⃣ Is it necessary? Why should I consider it?

While it's a personal choice, a colonic can offer several benefits. It's great for maintaining a healthy digestive system, promoting regular bowel movements, and detoxifying the body. Plus, it can also help with bloating, improving nutrient absorption, and increasing energy levels! 🌟

3️⃣ How can I prepare for a colonic?

First things first, ensure you're properly hydrated by drinking plenty of water before your appointment. Just not in the hour before , gradually increase more water in the days before your appointment. Avoid heavy meals and opt for lighter, easily digestible foods beforehand. Also, discussing any medications or specific concerns with me, this is crucial to determine if a colonic is a suitable option for you! 🚰

4️⃣ Does it hurt?

Absolutely not! The procedure is generally painless and I created a relaxing environment. You might feel some gentle pressure as the water flows, but it shouldn't be uncomfortable. Just remember, you're in a safe and supportive space throughout the session. 😌

5️⃣ What happens after the colonic?

After your colonic, take it easy for a bit and listen to your body. It's normal to feel a renewed sense of lightness and clarity! Be sure to drink plenty of water to support your hydration, follow any instructions given by me and allow yourself a little time to rest and rejuvenate. 🍃

If you're curious about colonic therapy or have any more questions, feel free to reach out. Your health matters, and you're worth the investment! 💚

Gentle Treatment with History

Colon Hydrotherapy is not a new treatment. The gentle flow of water during the colonic treatment stimulates the body's natural nerve and muscular activity to help tone and exercise the bowel, thus aiding the evacuation of waste both during and after treatment. Colonic treatment is used as a naturopathic modality and clients who choose this treatment include those who suffer from various bowel conditions. IBS and constipation being the top of the list of reasons why. One of the best things about colonic hydrotherapy is that the benefits of the treatment are very personal to the client. This means that as a client you will know how you feel after the treatment. You won't need to be influenced by anyone else.

I’ve been treating clients at the Naturality Wellness Centre since 2008. It’s always an absolute pleasure to help and guide everyone gain better health. I trained with NCCH (National College of Colon Hydrotherapy) and are registered with ARCH (Association and register of Colon Hydrotherapists) who set the standards for our work. I regularly meet with colleagues and gain further insight to my studies by attending training to acquire my 30 hours a year CPD.

However, when you first book for a treatment, I know how daunting it can be, and its why I always talk to you about each step of the procedure and check in with you how you are feeling. There will be a health questionnaire I will need you to fill in, I’ll need to know if you have had any major operations, any medications you are taking and your general health, as in what you eat, do and how you feel.

If you have any questions about the treatment, please drop me a line, I’m happy to answer.
