It’s called a CuddleCot. It’s a specialized perinatal cooling device equipped with a temperature controlled cooling mat. It gives grieving parents the opportunity to spend more time with their baby in the hospital room.

🩵 Sienna’s Legacy 🩵
On the 19th of January 2025, Hayley’s beautiful daughter Sienna was born sleeping. From that heartbreaking moment, Hayley found the strength to turn her grief into something meaningful. She created Sienna Elizabeth Rose Legacy with the mission to bring CuddleCots, keepsakes and comfort boxes to all hospitals in Spain, giving families the precious time she wished she’d had with her daughter.

Through fundraising, community events and incredible generosity, five CuddleCots have already been donated with more planned.

We are so thankful to Hayley for her courage in sharing Sienna’s story and for her determination to support families through the gift of time.

This August marks the first South Asian Baby Loss Awareness Week, a time to raise awareness, break the silence and support families within the South Asian community who have experienced the loss of a baby.

"Data from the Sands and Tommy’s Joint Policy Unit shows Asian families are more likely to be affected by baby loss.

South Asian babies are more likely to be stillborn than White babies in the UK. And the latest data shows stillbirth rates increased for Asian babies in 2023.

That’s what led Asiya to create South Asian Baby Loss Awareness Week, a safe space for our community to speak, acknowledge, and begin to heal. "

🎓 A Remarkable Achievement 🎓
We are incredibly proud to recognise Sian Ness, our CuddleCot Bereavement Consultant and Relationship Manager, for achieving her MSc in Caring for Families Experiencing Perinatal Loss.

Sian is now one of only six people in the world to hold this qualification. It is the highest academic qualification in perinatal loss and a true testament to her dedication, compassion, and expertise in this deeply sensitive area of care.

This MSc enables Sian to:
🩵 Promote best practice across all areas of healthcare supporting families through perinatal loss
🩵 Advocate for and support families in making informed choices, from diagnosis through to postnatal care
🩵 Provide holistic care that encompasses all forms of loss including early pregnancy loss, TFMR (termination for fetal abnormality), stillbirth, and neonatal death
🩵 Offer guidance through the most difficult aspects of loss including postmortems and funeral planning

Sian uses this expertise to shape our clinically led, accessible, and free bereavement care eLearning, designed for healthcare professionals supporting families through loss. She also leads the development of our Bereavement Care Toolkit documents, helping to ensure that hospitals and hospices can deliver sensitive and informed care across all stages of loss.
