Docwra Family Research Project

We began by trying to bring together all records about people named Docwra (and its many variant spellings) into one database to help anyone who has an interest in the surname to be able to find information more easily.

The database currently holds over 2250 entries drawn mainly from the IGI [International Genealogical Index of the Church of Latter Day Saints] and some other published works. The data can be sorted by any of a range of fields including names, parents, spouses, dates, parishes or occupations, and whilst not yet complete is a very useful resource for searchers.

If any Docwra researchers would like a copy to work with on their own PC the database to date is available for download, as a (58kb) zipped file, in one of two formats - db for reading in a database program such as dbase or Paradox, and (97kb) xls spreadsheet format for reading in Microsoft Excel or Open Office. Both can be found in the Downloads section of the site. Also in the Downloads area are copies of Pedigrees in gedcom format.

Our Data Sets area includes parish and census records, will transcripts, pedigrees, variant spelling list, a document archive, and details of reference books relating to Docwras.
