After a quite period in the 90’s/00’s when narrow rectangular shapes were the height of fashion, round glasses are hugely popular again today with lovers of timeless, retro fashion, hipsters, Harry Potter fans, and those who love the visual field of view that a round shape provides.

Founded in 1993 by our Optometrist and Director Fiona, we are an independent, award winning opticians based in the heart of Worle, Weston-super-Mare.
Bowen Opticians started life as a small home visiting service. The company has evolved quite dramatically since then but the same core values remain. Based in a modern and stylish practice, we have established a name for ourselves synonymous with outstanding service and clinical excellence.
Our gold standard approach to patient care has won us national recognition from organisations such as the Association of Optometrists, Optician Magazine and The Somerset Chamber of Commerce. In 2017 we were awarded the Autism Friendly award from the National Autistic Society as a result of our continued efforts to provide individualized eye care. We are, at present, the only opticians in England to hold this award!
We are very proud of our independent status and invest time and money into ensuring our equipment, products and knowledge are first rate. In 2015 we invested in the what is widely regarded as the best retinal scanner available today. The Spectralis 4D Eye Health Check supplies us with highly detailed images of the retina and tissue at the back of the eye and is the same equipment used by NASA to monitor the eye health of their astronauts. It has revolusionised the eyecare we provide and helped save the sight of numerous clients all ready.
As well as technology, we also like to invest in fabulous products. Our frame range is large and varied and truly has something for everyone. As an independent company we have the privilege of being able to cherry pick the products we recommend, and only the best performing, with the most positive feedback, make the cut!
Our passion for eyecare doesn't end within the walls of the practice, we take it out into the community too, from our educational programme in local schools and nurseries, to taking part in charitable campaigns, our profile within the community is of the upmost important to us.
