We had a fantastic turnout last night at the Staffordshire AGM 2025 at the Aston Marina in Stone with delicious food, desserts and drinks.

Don't forget to vote for our dedicated Chair Irfan Razvi in the College of Optometrists West Midlands category. Irfan is of the firm conviction that Optometry has been under-represented in the Primary Care and Eye Health settings for too long. He believes that if this is to change, the optical profession will require better representation at national level. The recent commissioning successes that we have enjoyed in Staffordshire, and any prospective new transformative pathways such as Integrated Glaucoma Monitoring, are all under threat if eyecare services commissioning isn't scaled up across the nation. Irfan wants to shape the College's strategic direction, deliver the best frameworks for clinical optometry, and achieve the best outcomes for College members in Staffordshire and beyond.

Optometrists and dispensing opticians are now eligible for the Blue Light Card discount scheme, which offers exclusive retail savings to NHS workers, emergency services and the armed forces.

To gain access to the scheme, new members will need to upload their GOC registration number plus a form of personal ID that matches, such as a Passport or Driving Licence.
