❄ We’ve all cancelled plans due to the cold weather at least once. But not even the cold temperatures of your refrigerator can stop bacteria from being on the move ❄

🍗 Cross-contamination can still occur if food is not stored correctly in your fridge. A good example is if you store uncovered raw chicken above other foods such as ready-to-eat cooked meat or salad, the cold will not stop chicken juices dripping onto and contaminating the food below 🍗

❄ The correct storage of food in the fridge, can help to halt adventurous bacteria in its tracks. Cover raw food, including meat and make sure it is kept separate from ready-to-eat food, making sure you store raw food below ready-to-eat food in the fridge ❄

Voluntary Recall Notice: HeartSine samaritan PAD

HeartSine samaritan PAD is a small, lightweight, portable, battery operated Automated External Defibrillator (AED) designed to treat victims of cardiac arrest.

HeartSine Technologies has initiated a voluntary recall for a specific subset of its samaritan PAD models, due to a manufacturing issue that could impair the device's ability to function or cause failure during use.

The public is encouraged to check their AED against the affected models by visiting the HeartSine recall page and entering your device’s serial number: www.stryker.com/us/en/emergency-care/product-notices/heartsine/fa318-t3/ee.html

Public Advisory Notice: Non-sterile alcohol-free wipes

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) are advising the public to stop using certain non-sterile alcohol-free wipes and to dispose of them:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/public-advised-to-stop-using-certain-non-sterile-alcohol-free-wipes

These products which may have been used for ‘skin cleansing’ and cleaning in or around wounds have been withdrawn from sale but may still be found in some first aid kits and in people’s homes.

We can confirm that all wipes sold via the Qualsafe Shop are sterile and therefore safe for use. However, we still encourage all customers to review the official notice for further details and dispose of any affected wipes.

If required, replacement stock can be purchased with confidence from the Qualsafe Shop: https://shop.qualsafe.org.

⚠️ Together with the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, we’re advising the public to stop using certain non-sterile alcohol-free wipes, as they may be contaminated with Burkholderia stabilis.
The following products have been found to be affected:
• ValueAid Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
• Microsafe Moist Wipe Alcohol Free
• Steroplast Sterowipe Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
• Reliwipe Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes

🤏🍗😲 Removing an object with fingers when choking

🦷 Unless you’re a dentist, you should probably go throughout your life keeping your fingers out of other people's mouths. This is especially true when someone is choking, even if you are a dentist!

🤏 Blindly inserting your fingers in the back of someone’s mouth could push the object further down the throat. You also run the risk of being bitten!

👉Instead, you should follow the first aid procedure of encouraging the patient to cough, followed by administering back blows, and then abdominal thrusts if necessary. If the casualty becomes unconscious, you should give CPR. If you struggle to give rescue breaths after giving 30 chest compressions, it is okay to look in the mouth, but only to remove an obvious obstruction that you can see.
