We’re pleased to share an important step forward in women’s health care at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. 🚺

Miss Ivilina Pandeva, Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist Urogynaecologist, has performed her first da Vinci robotic-assisted sacrocolpopexy, a specialist procedure for pelvic organ prolapse that uses minimally invasive techniques to support recovery and patient comfort. 💚

This achievement marks a proud first for our hospital, as Miss Pandeva becomes our first female robotic-assisted surgeon — helping bring modern, specialist care to more patients. ✅

In the press, for , Spire Cheshire Hospital shared Andy Mills’ story which was featured in Warrington Guardian. 📰

Andy, a keen 63-year-old cyclist and runner from Warrington, found his active lifestyle suddenly impacted by severe prostate symptoms that affected his sleep, wellbeing and daily life. Andy underwent a Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) procedure under the care of Consultant Urologist Mr Rono Mukherjee, after experiencing severe urinary symptoms that required catheterisation for several weeks. 🚴

Andy experienced relief within hours of surgery and is now looking forward to getting back to the activities he loves. Andy described the care he received as “first class from start to finish”, praising the compassion and support shown by the entire team throughout his treatment and recovery.

Stories like Andy’s highlight the importance of seeking help early and talking openly about prostate health.❤️‍🩹

In partnership with Genomics England, Spire Healthcare have launched a new test to predict an individual's genetic risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer and prostate cancer with a simple saliva sample.🧬

The Health Insights test combines polygenic risk scores - which analyse millions of small genetic variations across DNA - with traditional clinical factors like age, s*x at birth and ethnicity. 🔬

Justin Ash, CEO of Spire Healthcare said 💬: “Empowering people with the knowledge to understand their genetic make-up and identify their personalised risk of developing certain diseases will help them to proactively manage their health. We are excited to launch this standalone genetic test, which doesn’t require a health insurance policy, through our partnership with Genomics, enabling us to further personalise the care we deliver to patients.”

Spire Leeds Hospital celebrated Cancer Nurse Specialist (CNS) Appreciation Day. 💛

The Clinical Nurse Specialist's and Hospital Director were recognised for their expertise and services.

Kostas Kamposiaras, Consultant Haematologist, shared:

💬 "While I appreciate the intent behind dedicated days, the work of Cancer Nurse Specialists (CNS) deserves recognition every single day.

"Having worked in different healthcare systems, I know how fortunate we are to have CNSs fully integrated into our services. They transform patient care, support colleagues, and strengthen the entire service.

"How many patients have found the courage to confide in a CNS because of the supportive space they offer?

"Their expertise and compassion also elevate the work of senior clinicians and the wider team."

Endometriosis can take many forms, such as very painful periods, heavy bleeding, pelvic pain and bloating, and more. These symptoms are real even when they’re minimised... you don’t have to accept them as “just part of life.” ❤️‍🩹

Short-term solutions that can help ease symptoms range from a simple heat pad for cramps and over-the-counter pain killers, through to guided physiotherapy. Always check with your GP before changing medications or starting supplements. 👨‍⚕️

If pain or heavy bleeding is stopping you from living normally, keep a short symptom diary and take it to your GP, and ask for an investigation or a referral if needed. You’re not alone, and getting the right support can make a real difference. 🚺

During March, the specialist team at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital shone a light on endometriosis, an often invisible condition affecting 1 in 10 people across the UK. For the sixth consecutive year, the hospital has been recognised as an Endometriosis Centre of Excellence by the BSGE, reflecting our commitment to delivering world class diagnosis and treatment.

Today, we’re sharing the story of Tatsiana Ivonchyk, who lived with severe pelvic pain for more than a decade. Despite seeking help several times, her symptoms continued to worsen, impacting every part of her daily life. Everything changed when she met Professor Mohamed Mabrouk, world-renowned gynaecological surgeon and endometriosis specialist. For the first time, Tatsiana felt heard, supported, and understood.

Following expert care and endometriosis excision surgery at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, Tatsiana is now living pain free:

💬“I am able to work, exercise and socialise again without pain. Finally understanding the cause of my symptoms has taken away so much anxiety. Living pain free is something I never thought possible.”

Her journey highlights why early diagnosis and specialist-led care are essential, and why no one should feel unheard when it comes to chronic pelvic pain. 💛
