Last week, we came together to celebrate an important milestone in our history, as Outward marked 50 years of empowering people and turning dreams into reality.

The celebration was full of music, memories and proud moments. We watched a meaningful video that looked back on our 50-year story and highlighted the people who shaped our journey, starting with our earliest service users and their unforgettable experiences. The entire room was surrounded by the inspiring artwork created by the people we support, filling the space with colour and creativity.

The night was made truly special by the talent within our own team. Two colleagues, Malin and Thabo, delivered an outstanding live music performance, and the whole room was on its feet applauding. Another colleague, Samina, delighted everyone with homemade desserts. One of the people we support, Sarah, gave a remarkable piano recital. With no formal training, her performance was the result of pure talent and dedication.

During the evening, we recognised team members who have been with us for 25 years or more and presented them with certificates to honour their dedication. We were pleased to be joined by Councillor Anya Sizer, Deputy Cabinet Member for Families, Early Years and SEND Hackney, who kindly offered her reflections and celebrated with us.

Catering was provided by Fat Macy’s, a social enterprise that offers pathways into employment and support to help people build the lives they deserve, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the evening. Thank you to Wendy for taking photos for and Crismon Mobile Bar for providing refreshments.

A big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us. Here’s to the next 50 years of achieving dreams together.

Our cherished tradition continued this year as we proudly hosted the People We Support Awards. We came together to celebrate achievements, recognising winners and nominees in categories such as Great Gardener, Master Chef, and many more.
This year’s theme was ‘The Movies’, and we all enjoyed dressing up and posing on the red carpet! One of the highlights of the event was an opera performance by Oksana, which left the audience mesmerised.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Chamelian and Delta Security for their generous contributions. Your support helped make this unforgettable night possible.

It was a joyful occasion dedicated to honouring the amazing achievements and inspiring stories of the extraordinary individuals we have the privilege to support. To everyone who attended and all who worked behind the scenes, thank you for helping us create a night to remember.

This year marks a remarkable milestone for us: 50 years of empowering people to live the lives they choose. For five decades, we’ve been dedicated to supporting individuals in our community to achieve greater independence, inclusion and fulfilment.

Across our services, we’ve been celebrating this golden anniversary with gatherings, activities and meaningful moments shared with the people we support.

At Outward, we’re proud to celebrate Black History Month 2025.

Our office has been beautifully decorated, and we recently came together to hear our Board Member, Alison, deliver an inspiring and insightful speech. We also shared dishes representing our diverse cultures, creating a space for connection and community.

By celebrating and learning together, we continue to honour Black history and culture.

Earlier this year, we announced that our brilliant support worker Joanna would be taking on a swimming marathon to raise money for the people we support, so they can experience a special overnight trip to Regents Park Zoo. Many of them have never had the chance to stay at the zoo lodge, and this trip will offer an unforgettable experience.

The event has now been rescheduled for February, and the fundraising campaign continues as Joanna works towards raising £2,000 to cover the costs of the whole stay.

Do you or someone you support want to go on holiday before the year ends?

🎃 Halloween and Bonfire Night Activity Break (27th – 31st of October): Our guests will take part in a Spooktacular Halloween experience at a local farm, make Halloween decorations, do some baking, and visit an old castle. Oh and of course, dress up for our Halloween party!

✨ Pampering Holiday (24th – 28th of November): On this break, guests will enjoy a relaxing holiday with activities designed to leave them restored and rejuvenated. We will have a yoga session, enjoy a massage, and create some artwork. What better way to spend the colder days than at Nutley Edge?

🍂 Back in the first week of September, we hosted our guests from The 3H Foundation for a week full of fun activities!

We started off the week with a visit to Middle Farm before heading to our main destination, Nutley Edge. The next day’s plan was a day trip to Eastbourne to see the seaside and do some shopping; however, due to torrential rain, our guests escaped to Eastbourne Towner Art Gallery and enjoyed an artsy afternoon instead.
On Wednesday, our guests took a day trip to the ruins of Battle Abbey, followed by an evening of karaoke (rumour has it even the staff got involved in singing this time!).

As the week continued, we had a visit from the Forest School for a crafty day, where our guests made butterflies to decorate the forest at Nutley Edge. Last but not least, we wrapped up the week with a visit to Sussex Butterfly Gardens before heading back to London.

With Blackland Farm – I just got recognised as one of their top fans! 🎉 Thank you!

Summer may be over, but last week we wrapped up the season in the best way, with our final summer holiday filled with fun and unforgettable memories.

✨ We started off with archery at Blackland Farm, before heading to Nutley Edge. On Tuesday, we had a tie-dye workshop, followed by a summer baking session.

🚌 Wednesday, we had a daytrip to Eastbourne, where we wandered down the pier, hit up the arcades, had fish and chips, and drank loads of milkshakes. When we arrived back at Nutley, everyone got ready for our karaoke party and we enjoyed mocktails, karaoke and loads of dancing.

🎉 Thursday morning began with an English breakfast, then continued with a sports day and a music session with Jo. We finished the holiday off with some bowling before heading back to London.

After a week full of activities from Monday to Friday, it was a wonderful way to say goodbye to summer and welcome autumn. Stay tuned for our upcoming autumn adventures!

☀️ As the sun continued to shine, we welcomed The 3H Foundation guests to Nutley Edge for another great week of sun, laughter and exploring.

🌄 Guests enjoyed a diverse range of activities throughout the week, starting with a visit to Willows Bird of Prey & Wildlife Trail. Soothing massages provided by The Perfect Pamper, followed by a relaxing yoga session with our wonderful instructor Emma, offered a perfect midweek reset. Later in the week, everyone headed to the coast for a delightful day by the sea in Eastbourne, topped off with a delicious meal at Rustico Italian. We also took a nostalgic trip on the ever-popular Bluebell Steam Railway and wrapped up the week with a hearty brunch at the charming Oast Farm.

This weekend, we turned up the vibes for our very first activity break to Eastbourne Pride—and what a blast it was! 🌈🎉 Things kicked off on Friday with rainbow-fuelled creativity as guests got stuck into banner-making 🎨✂️ and fabulous Pride-themed tattoos, setting the stage for an epic weekend.

Saturday saw the group hit the seaside 🌊🏖️ for a day packed with celebrations—think glitter ✨, drag queens 👑, games galore 🎲🎯, and, of course, classic fish and chips by the beach! 🐟🍟

After all the fun and fabulousness, we wrapped things up with a well-earned, delicious cooked breakfast at the Babylon Eco Centre 🍳🥓—because every great weekend deserves a tasty finale! 😋
