We would like to give a big Shout Out to "Friends of Savernake", who are a local charity group that has very generously awarded us many grants over the years to buy non-NHS funded pieces of equipment. They have been invaluable to us for some very expensive items and are now in the position where they need to fundraise and ask for any donations towards their Christmas raffle (I know we're in August so technically we're not allowed to mention the big C word 🎅🧑‍🎄🤶!!!) If anyone has anything they could offer, this is their website https://friendsofsavernake.org/ There is a section on their website to donate money but if you have anything for their raffle, please contact them directly. Thank you

Our annual opportunity to feel ever so slightly chuffed...... Less than 1% between the top three!!! Huge congratulations to our colleagues at Great Bedwyn Surgery!

Every year patients are asked what they think of the service at their local Surgery. Across the UK more than 703,000 people filled in the NHS England GP Patient Survey this year. 75% of patients ranked their experience as "Good" or "Very Good" - an increase from 73.9% in 2024.

In Wiltshire, the Surgery with the highest ranking for overall experience was Mere Surgery near Warminster, where 98.94% of patients rated their experience as positive. Second was the Old School House Surgery in Great Bedwyn, near Marlborough, with a positive score of 98.24%. Third was nearby Ramsbury Surgery, where 98.1% of patients ranked their experience as positive.

For all our ex-services/veteran patients. Please be aware there are many services available to veterans such as OP Courage and OP Restore.

Op COURAGE - an NHS Mental Health Specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families.

Op RESTORE - The Veterans Physical Health and Wellbeing Service provides specialist care and support to veterans who have physical health problems as a result of their time in the Armed Forces.

Op FORTITUDE: Support pathway for ex-service personnel experiencing homelessness

Op NOVA: Support for ex-service personnel who are in contact with the justice system

Op ASCEND – employment support for veterans and their families

We offer robust support services in a number of areas but sometimes what's needed is a bit of advice or recommendation to a more specialised service.

On the 80th anniversary of VE Day, please remember we are a Veteran Friendly Practice which means we endeavour to support our Veterans in any way we can. Please do let us know if you have ever served in one of our UK Armed Forces so we can put a code on your Medical Record so we can easily identify, understand and support veterans and, where appropriate, refer them to specialist healthcare services designed especially for them.

A veteran is anyone who has served for at least one day in the British Armed Forces, whether as a Regular or Reservist (previously known as the Territorial Army). It means the same as ‘ex service personnel’ or ‘ex forces,’ although not all veterans know the term or choose to associate with the term 'veteran.’ Younger veterans might refer to themselves as ‘ex-forces,’ in the belief that a veteran is someone who fought in the First or Second World War. Veterans include those who were Merchant Navy seafarers or fisherman who served in a vessel used to support the UK's armed forces at any time.
