This gentleman got referred to me by his doctor 🧑⚕️ He has type 2 diabetes so therefore suffers from Neuropathy (numbness of the feet) he was totally unaware of the state of his heels. Luckily after a routine diabetic check up the doctor noticed how bad his heels were. If left for much longer he could have easily risked infection which if not caught early could have ended in amputation of his foot. As extreme as that sounds with diabetes the immune system is impaired which greatly slows down the healing process, which also makes wounds severely open to infection that can rapidly get out of control.
This was the worst case of cracked heel that I have encountered in my 8 years of being an FHP. It took 4 intensive treatments over the space of 6 weeks, which was also extremely painful for my client but I explained to him that they would be painful before they healed due to all the hard skin being taken away and walking on fresh flesh 🥴 But after a little sweat and some blisters on my hands we got there 🙌 He said he can actually feel his heels now and so much more comfortable to walk. We will continue with 4-6 weekly maintenance appointments to keep his feet 👣 healthy and Foot Perfect 👌
