Don’t dwell on the past, don’t long for the future. The past is behind us, the future is yet to come. But that which is present in the here and now can be seen clearly. Here. Here.

The Dhammapada opens with, "Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought." As we begin a New Year, let's be mindful of our thoughts. For our thoughts shape our words, our words shape our actions, and our actions shape our future.

Wishing all of you a happy and prosperous 2024. We'll be back next Wednesday with our in person classes at the Therapy Life Centre. 7pm to 8pm. Why not start the New Year with a new practice?

Tashi delek 🙏

Our story

Fruitful Success came from a desire to improve the wellbeing of others. As Buddha said, “life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think.” In this, the best way to help others is to enable them to help themselves. That’s the mantra of Fruitful Success.

The idea was started by David Johnson. He’s a long-time student of philosophy, starting out at 10 years old reading books on Hatha Yoga and eastern religions.

It began with an apple. The first chapter of the first book he ever read on the subject imprinted still in memory: to take an apple and sit and silently study it for an hour. That might sound odd, but it taught him an important lesson – that our ideas of what we think things are, are wrong. In studying the apple, he understood that his idea of what an apple is was not what an apple is. That each apple is individual, unique, and not the projection of what he thought an apple should be.

In this, we must recognise that everything in this world is individual and unique. That reality is a projection of the constructs we have in place within our own minds. Yet it’s often difficult to see that through the noise of the modern world. Our zeitgeist is one of growing consumerism and worsening mental wellbeing, where escapism and distraction from ourselves has become the norm.
