Last month, the first governance meeting was held for Moving Together, a new programme of work which is being co-led by the Active Partnerships National Organisation (APNO) and the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK (FSEM).

This new phase of work is focusing on integrating physical activity into health and care by improving the pathway between health and activity and removing barriers associated with risk. The work includes the ongoing co-production of the frictionless Pathways for Health Guidance Framework.

The governance meeting, which was held in London, brought together representatives from a number of partners who are supporting this important work.

Moving Medicine

Moving Medicine is an initiative by Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK) in partnership with Sport England and Public Health England.

Launched in October 2018 by the Secretary of State for Health, we believe passionately in empowering people to live active and healthy lives.

In the United Kingdom, physical inactivity is the fourth greatest cause of ill health with negative impacts on health, social and economic outcomes for individuals and communities. It is responsible for 1 in 6 UK deaths, which is equivalent to smoking. Importantly, up to 40% of long-term conditions could be prevented if everyone met the UK Chief Medical Officer’s physical activity recommendations.
