Did you know breastfeeding is the ultimate in 'Greenfeeding' - it is a sustainable and valuable natural resource that has no negative impact on our environment: no scarce resources are used, no pollution is caused by transport, no garbage is produced by packaging, and expenditure on health costs to treat disease is reduced.

The Trust is delighted that its 0 – 19 years Children and Young People’s Services have been reaccredited for the prestigious UNICEF Gold Baby Friendly Award, for the fifth year running. We’re incredibly proud that we’re also one of only two NHS Trust in East Midlands to achieve the Gold Award. The Gold Award is a nationally recognised mark of quality care and part of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI). It recognises the support offered to all families to enable them to meet their feeding goals, develop close and loving relationships with their baby and experience a positive journey along the way, thus ensuring that all babies get the best possible start in life. By supporting a breastfeeding parent returning to work an employer benefits as much as the employee. Continued breastfeeding when returning to work can mean that babies have less illnesses and so parents need less time off work to care for them. Breastfeeding also allows the strong relationship between mum and baby to continue so she feels more prepared and ready to be back at work. Make sure you know your rights and how to plan for your return
