Last weekend I completed a 40-hour japa meditation retreat, chanting the Mul Mantra, and I’m still integrating, if I’m honest.
The space was held beautifully by and - grounded, devotional, and deeply supportive in all the ways that matter.
It was tough, beautiful, humbling and life-affirming all at once.
At first, a lot of resistance surfaced. My mind had opinions. My body had questions. But by staying with the practice something softened. What came through were powerful insights and a sense of being held by the mantra itself, unlike anything I’ve experienced before.
As a very air-sign, logical, in-my-head human, dropping into the heart and allowing myself to receive doesn’t come easily. And yet… this practice gently, steadily guided me there.
We chanted continuously in two groups - two-hour slots through the day and four-hour shifts through the night(surprisingly, the night chants felt easier somehow).
Despite being a little sleep-deprived, I feel clear, energised and deeply centred - like something fundamental has shifted.
I’ll be carrying this practice forward for the next 40 days, and I already know it’s changing how I listen, how I teach and how I show up.
If you’re feeling called to deepen your meditation practice, this is something they hold every year and I couldn’t recommend it more.
Over the coming months, I’ll be weaving more japa mantra meditation into my classes and planning a dedicated workshop so you can experience some of the beautiful benefits for yourself:
✨ quieting mental noise
✨ strengthening focus and intuition
✨ opening the heart
✨ supporting emotional and energetic balance
