3DFX wallpaper Doctor Who Classic TARDIS wallpaper licensed by BBC Worldwide What is a Doctor Who Fan’s greatest desire? We want to be the Doctor in the TARDIS.

The answer, according to research conducted by the creators of the Doctor Who Experience in London, is to walk into the TARDIS. To this end they re-created not just one, not two but three TARDIS control rooms spanning the latter history of the program. BBC Worldwide recent surveys came to the same conclusion…. Well now you can! We’ve come up with an inspired range of wallpapers based on Classic TARDIS interior design specifically licensed by the BBC. To test the market we’ve released the one that lasted the longest, 1977 to 1989. This roundel pattern spanned four Doctors and remained from its inception until the show came off air. One of the crucial points in the discussions we had with BBC Worldwide when working on this project was the question of accuracy. They were pleased with the research done and how close to the original dimensions we where able to achieve within the constraints of the standard wallpaper sizes available. However, they were particularly impressed with the story of how we came by the colour used. In every picture of the TARDIS interior the colour is slightly different due to lighting and exposure so to get it right was proving tricky. Salvation came from a website one of our designers had joined when it came to light that Mark Barton Hill was a member. He just happened to be the fellow that had built the 1983 control room for the Doctor Who Experience! We cheekily asked him for a sample of the paint he had used on the exhibit in the full knowledge that it looked absolutely authentic. What he sent us was a sample from the pot of paint used in 1983 on the screen TARDIS! Unbelievably there was still some left after all these years and he’d used it to colourmatch the paint for the exhibit. We were able to do the same for the wallpaper. The wallpaper is now available in two patterns, one ‘roundels’ and the other ‘column’ which, used together, can recreate the patterns of the Classic TARDIS interior 1977-‘89. I thought I'd write this up and post something as I've just discovered quite a few correspondence I was unaware of. It seems Facebook hasn't been passing on all the messages I've been getting, probably due to some mistake I've made in the settings or something.
Regarding the Classic Roundel Wallpaper. Sadly, the licence from the BBC was too expensive to renew at the time and so production stopped and the wallpaper that's in circulation is all there is. I'm sorry to say I don't have any stock left these days and the people I knew who had wallpaper to sell have also run out.
It's been suggested I put the designs I did up on a print site called 'Spoonflower' and perhaps when I have a moment, I'll have a look. In the meantime, these things do come up on ebay every now and then...

I'm not particularly impressed with the new TARDIS interior but I have to say I really like the new roundels! What a neat bit of design. I'll never look at the washing basket in the same way again...I'm thinking it would make a great wallpaper. Any takers?
