Equinox. The time of equal light and dark, a point of stillness that occurs twice a year, this (autumn) equinox marks the beginning of the darker months. It's a really special time for pagans, but it's typically a difficult time for people struggling with chronic illnesses especially things like fibro which can have seasonal flares.

I had a diagnosis of fibro some years ago and autumn was absolutely the worst for flare-ups. If you're struggling, be in touch and let's see which herbs can help you heal.

Winter blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder can also really impact people at this time, and if you suffer with this, it can be a real time of dread waiting for it. Again, be in touch if you'd like support with this.

This summer has been absolutely wonderful for me - lots of holidays, trips in the campervan, but it's also been hard work with the school holidays, ever-increasing heatwaves (and managing dysautonomia and a big dog in the heat), and the busy-ness of summer is hard for a deeply introverted person. I'm definitely ready to hunker down and get cosy for the next 2 seasons! We moan about the weather a lot but I do enjoy living somewhere with 4 seasons (just about still!).

Wishing a peaceful equinox, and a moment of balance, to all ๐Ÿ‚ ๐ŸŽ‘ ๐Ÿ

ROSEHIP SYRUP
Hi folks, taking pre-orders for rosehip syrup. Could you please comment with the size you'd like, if you think you're very likely to want one? This isn't a blood oath, just a reckoning for me to gauge interest, no payment is required til collection. They sell out very quickly whenever I list them for general sale/in the shop and I don't want anyone missing out. If you've previously commented or messaged me to pre-order you don't need to do so again as you'll be on my list :)

250ml ยฃ20

Benefits of rosehip: Rosehip is an incredible powerhouse of vitamin C, plus vitamins A, D, E, antioxidants and trace minerals, plus it tastes delicious. It's anti inflammatory and great for those with painful conditions such as arthritis, a great alternative to elderberry syrup for those on immunosuppressants or who have flarey conditions where the cytokine issue of elderberry might make it worse.

Rosehip in syrup or dried (on the shelves now) is a wonderful addition to your winter stock cupboard and perfect for children, pregnancy and breastfeeding mothers. I usually put hibiscus in mine, to enhance that gorgeous rosy colour and add even more vitamin c.

It's best to make/buy syrups in small quantities - I make with as little sugar as possible and no alcohol, so they need to be kept in the fridge. If you buy a couple, I always recommend freezing all but one and defrosting as needed. . My syrups are always made with Buxton spring water freshly collected from the well. So there's only 3 or 4 ingredients: brown sugar, well water, rosehip & quite often hibiscus flower.

I will share this a few times over the next week and aim to make the first batch on Wednesday.

Free Leek delivery, postage at cost, or shop collection as always ๐Ÿ™‚

I felt the first tingling and lethargy of a cold yesterday. As soon as I got home, I had more than my usual swig of elderberry syrup, and two hot cups of Cold n Flu Brew in a hot himalayan salt bath.
Seems to have gone today but will repeat the same steps when I get in to be sure. Herbs work!

With two children in school, one of whom is allergic to proper rain attire (apparently being cold and wet is cool?) I spend half my life fending off the viruses they're so keen to bring home and distribute along with chewed ties, stained shirts and foul PE kit. HERBS WORK! Don't be without your herbal cold kit!
