Prepare To Fail!

Have you ever wondered how effective the rescue team you hired would be if the worst happened right now?

Here are a few extra questions that are often overlooked that you, as a client, should be asking your rescue team:
· Has the rescue team surveyed the inside of the confined space to identify risks, obstacles and bottlenecks?
· How does the rescue team calculate how many workers they will allow into the space at any one time?
· In a worst-case scenario, how long would it take the rescue team to rescue every worker inside the confined space? (will the last casualty still have air remaining in their EBA)
· What is your procedure for dealing with medically or physically entrapped casualties?
· How do you KNOW the rescue plan will work? (has it been resilience tested in a drill on site)
· Does the rescue team fully understand the work being completed and its associated risks?
· What is the true response time of the rescue team? (3 people in a van with coveralls tied around their waist will take on average 5mins to get dressed, BA donned and ready to enter- if the first casualty has a 10min escape set, the second casualty is in big trouble)
