I came across this quote in my daily journal, which seems so appropriate as the morning’s become increasingly darker and the evenings keep drawing in. I find myself resisting the natural cycle of heading into darker, shorter days and instead I’m turning my gaze inwards to find an inner light. Taking regular walks, practicing an energising yoga flow and drinking cacao are some of the activities I’m using atm to sprinkle some warmth and light within. What helps bring light to your inner wellbeing?

Your body is like a garden in spring, it needs nourishing to bloom. Taking time to pause, breathe and be in the present moment can allow the rivers within you to flow. Your body is always present, so by bringing your awareness to your body, the mind becomes present too.

Try taking a moment in your day to place one hand on your belly, the other on your chest. Close down your eyes and turn your gaze inwards. As you inhale, say to yourself “I am here”, as you exhale, “I am with my body”. Repeat as many times as you need.

It’s been a while since I posted on here as life has been a bit full, but as the season changes I wanted to share a little mindfulness. Take care KTx

Today I feel sad, a bit lost and hormonal, not sure why, no rhyme or rhythm, just one of those days. Lots going on right now, but understanding and accepting that ALL feelings are OK helps. My yoga practice has shown how all emotions are good; happiness, sadness, anger, joy and everything in between! The reason I’m sharing this is social media often captures a single frame of how great things are and all the wonderful things everyone might be doing. But life’s not always like that and we shouldn’t push away perceived negative feelings, all emotions are acceptable and OK.

The photo of roses are from a beautiful friend who gave them to me the other week and they’re a wonderful focus point at the moment. Thank you

Take care precious people, be ok to feel all the feels if that’s where you’re at too x

Which parts of your body do you like? For me it’s my feet, hands and heart. Areas I’m still learning to love? My belly and pelvis (an area of discomfort and pain for years caused by Endometriosis.)

Our relationship with our body can often be dictated to by our internal dialogue. We don’t realise how self destructive this dialogue can sometimes be. We wouldn’t dream of talking to a friend or a loved one in such a way. The constant questioning, self doubt, wanting to be thinner, fatter, taller, shorter, prettier, cleverer. The list of nagging thoughts and doubts can go on and on.

When I first started observing my inner voice I was surprised, but having an awareness of my self criticisms and practicing self compassion has had a huge impact, not only on myself but on those around me.

I recently put the same question, (what part of you do you like?), to a group of primary school girls at the start of their yoga class. It was a challenge for them to answer personally, but they had no problem offering up compliments and suggestions to each other. I was surprised at how our critical inner voice starts at such a tender age and it made me realise it’s never too early to teach self love and self compassion.

You can start by simply placing one hand on your belly, the other on your chest. Turn your gaze inwards and feel sensations, your heart beating, your body breathing, the temperature on your skin, where feels cool, where feels warm. Your relationship with yourself can depend on how sensitive and aware you are of what is taking place in your body.

For anyone looking to practice self-kindness and compassion you can join me on the mat at my private studio for small group classes or 1:1s. I’d also recommend the self compassion work by

Endo pain is so unbelievably raw - for me it’s the same as the intense labour pains I had birthing my children. Except there’s no baby at the end, just sheer exhaustion and a fear of when the next wave of pain will be to endure. It’s excruciating, nauseating and completely debilitating. There’s no warning when it hits and can be triggered by something as small as walking uphill or going to the toilet. I’ve been so lucky to be pain free for over 4 months, but the last few weeks I’ve been reminded how cruel this disease is, that there’s no cure and NO pain killer can touch the surface. It just doesn’t go away! Having the luxury of a break from the pain for a few months, makes you realise the impact pain has on our mental health. I’m sharing this as ironically my pain has returned for Endometriosis Awareness Month, the timing couldn’t be more appropriate.

There needs to be a cure, please please please can we find a cure or at least a painkiller that can offer some respite until a cure is found. The thought of my daughter inheriting this awful disease alongside millions of others and there being no solution fills me with dread. Yes there are coping methods which I really advocate and they can really help manage the pain, but it’s exhausting and extremely challenging.

Sending hugs and thoughts to all Endo warriors. If we can endure this (not that we have a choice) we can endure anything!

Ps not looking for any sympathy just sharing, increasing awareness and looking for a solution!

About Me

Hi, I’m KT, a Yoga teacher based in the heart of Sevenoaks

Yoga can benefit everyone, whether you’re a total beginner or you’ve been practicing for years, stressed and in need of some time out, or you want to complement your sports training to strengthen and release your muscles.

My passion for yoga intensified whilst learning to manage a chronic illness. After discovering the healing powers of Yoga I now strive to help others realise the benefits of this ancient practice in a contemporary way.

I teach Hatha Yoga. My classes centre around Vinyasa Flow, a dynamic practice that improves flexibility, strength, posture and balance. My classes are nurturing and start with a short breathing exercise (Pranayama) to calm the nervous system and prepare the body for the physical practice. With a focus on alignment and synchronising breath with movement, the sequence of postures can be as challenging as you wish. I have a passion for music which I use to guide students through each class.
